In the 1960s, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella made it to New York City stages, but in all this time the lead role has never been played by a black actress. Starting this September, that will change.

Today it was announced that Keke Palmer will take over the role starting September 9th at the Broadway Theatre (where the musical was revived last year). The 21-year-old actress and singer will be making her professional stage debut, but has appeared off-stage in shows like Masters of Sex, the 90210 reboot, and her own BET talk show.

According to Broadway World, Palmer will also become the youngest actress to portray Cinderella on Broadway.
