A tipster sent over this letter, which was given to employees working at an office in Midtown, announcing that the HBO show Boardwalk Empire would be using some fireball effects during a shoot in... Greenpoint this evening. The email sent out to employees read, "This shoot will involve a large fire-ball effect residents in surrounding communities and Manhattan may be able to hear and see as it occurs. This shoot is taking place on private property with the assistance of the NYPD and FDNY."

You can read the letter below, which states the fireball action will be happening around 10 p.m. tonight. And Gothamist reporter Chris Robbins pairs the news with this spoiler alert: "THE HOOTCH IS GETTING 'SPLODED."

FDNY Press secretary Frank Dwyer tells us: "The shoot tonight is a controlled explosion in a confined area on private, gated property. FDNY Explosives Unit issued a permit and will be onsite to monitor the loading, firing and aftermath of the controlled explosion. There will be an ambulance onsite as well as a fire apparatus for fire protection. All work is being done by pyrotechnicians licensed by the FDNY. It will be a loud controlled explosion, but I don't know that you will be able to see it in Manhattan."
