Apparently, there's no better time to get married for a fourth time than on July 4th: the 66-year-old Billy Joel married his pregnant, 33-year-old girlfriend Alexis Roderick yesterday in a surprise ceremony at Joel's Long Island estate.

Ex-wife and original "Uptown Girl" Christie Brinkley congratulated the couple on Instagram.

The couple have been dating since 2009. The Oyster Bay ceremony was presided over by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, about a week after Cuomo made a request to lawmakers to allow governors to wed people. According to People Magazine, Joel and Brinkley’s daughter, Alexa Ray, 29, and actor Kevin James, 50, were among those in attendance.

The News had a pretty amusing cover in honor of the nuptials.

Joel recently lapped his old buddy Elton John to set a record for most performances by a single artist at Madison Square Garden with his 65th show there last Wednesday. "I really believed a long time ago if I didn't have a record every year on the charts, it would just go away. People would stop coming," he told AP

. "It's amazing — I haven't had a record on the charts in 22 years."

As several excellent profiles have noted, Joel is a notoriously depressed artist despite his success and public persona, with much of his displeasure stemming from his rollercoaster of a love life. As he told Chuck Klosterman in 2002: "I want what everybody else wants: to love and to be loved, and to have a family. Being in love has always been the most important thing in my life.'"

It seems he's one step closer to that now: “I'm probably going to be able to spend more time with this kid than most people are able to spend with their children, because I don't have a regular job," Joel told Newsday about his daughter. "I could be a stay-at-home dad for as long as I can stay alive."
