Barney Martin, the man who played Jerry's dad on Seinfeld for all but one episode, died at age 82 earlier this week. Gothamist never knew that he was a former NYC detective, as we knew him mainly as a Florida retiree who would overreact at whatever his bachelor son in NYC would do.
