dac.jpgThe eighth annual Art Under the Bridge Festival kicked off today in Brooklyn's D.U.M.B.O. neighborhood, and continues through Sunday, October 17. The largest free contemporary visual arts festival in the U.S., festival venues span 30 blocks between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, with almost 1500 artists participating.

From installations to projections to performances, art fills the galleries, building lobbies, streets and parks (and, if last year's festival is any indication, the subway entrances) of one of Brooklyn's oldest neighborhoods. Over 200 neighborhood artists will open their studios to the public for the weekend.

Radio Free D.U.M.B.O. is an audio component of the festival, airing specially-curated programming throughout the weekend on 88.7 FM and 99.9 FM, and can also be heard online.
