Saturday's weather was immaculate for day two of the All Points West music festival in Liberty State Park, New Jersey; unusually cool and crisp, with a fresh breeze off the harbor and spectacular cloud formations as far as the eye could see. Saturday was also the first day of the festival to sell out, and the park was significantly more crowded than Friday.

But no matter; a blissed-out vibe seemed to prevail, despite (or because of) a regrettably uptight beer distribution system, which one worker described as "a total lockdown because it's a state park." To "enjoy" an alcoholic beverage, concertgoers were forced to wait on long lines lasting 45 minutes or longer simply to get a wristband, which had 5 removable plastic tabs to limit the beverage consumption. Then it was on to a severely overcrowded drinking pen, where one was permitted to drink $7 Budweiser far from the view of any of the stages. Of course, most people found other ways to enhance their concert experience, and one could almost get a second-hand high off their largess.

Audiences reacted euphorically to sets from bands like The Black Angels, whose bruising, bluesy psychedelic rock reeked of sweat and menace. On the mainstage, Animal Collective raised a deafening wall of glitched-out sound that prompted one man all the way at the back of the field to cover his ears and yell, "Make it stop!" And one of the day's most enthusiastically received sets came courtesy of The Roots, who threw down with gusto for a massive crowd on the middle stage and gave props to the late, great Bernie Mac.

And finally there was Radiohead, who delivered yet another reliably spellbinding performance. At this point, what is there to say beyond 'Wow'? The non-In Rainbows portion of the setlist varied enough from Friday to fully justify a second trip to Jersey -- not that anyone has to twist our arms to hear "Nude," "Jigsaw," and "Arpeggi" two nights in a row. And the audience on the left side of the field proved somewhat more attentive than Friday night's irritating talkathon. (They must have gotten the message.) Photos of Radiohead from the pit on Friday night are here; Saturday night's set list after the jump.
