In April, we reported that city (national) treasure Spa Castle was preparing to launch a Manhattan location this fall, though details were scarce at the time. Since then, more information has leaked out, including tantalizing renderings and the crucial intel that this location will ban rugrats under the age of 16.
The spa, to occupy three floors at 115 East 57th Street, is set to open in November, though eager bathers can purchase pre-sale tickets for $50 starting now. (Tickets will normally run $65, making it pricier than the Queens location, which costs $40 on weekdays and $50 on weekends.)
Spa Castle Original recently banished cocktails in the "bade" pool area, which came as a huge blow to those of us who loved nothing more than to sink slowly into submerged recliners while gripping a tequila sunrise both the size and strength of an atom bomb. Spa Castle Premier, though, loves you and would never force you to bathe sober. The website boasts that in addition to fare like acai bowls and chopped salad, there will be an Aqua Bar, in which patrons can "swim up and treat yourself to a refreshing drink or delicious cocktail, while never having to leave the pool. Premier’s Aqua Bar is located inside the Indoor Bade Pool, providing a swim-up bar." That is a quote, and therefore, a binding oath. No mention is made of the availability of in-pool mozzarella sticks, but it's important to not panic until we have all the facts.
The outdoor bade pools will consist of the Hinoki Bath, the Dream Bath, the Events Tub (!) and the Foot Bath. Trusted standbys include the Sauna Valley, Infrared Lounge and meditation rooms, along with the men's and women's water lounges. ("Bathing suits and/or any form of clothing are not allowed inside the lounge baths.")
If you suspect you might have a calling in Professional Spa Castling, the new location is also hiring management positions.
