Yesterday was one of the cutest of all annual traditions: The Blessing of the Animals at St. John the Divine. What better way to celebrate the life of St. Francis of Assisi and his love of animals than communing with a kangaroo, a camel, a miniature pony, some alpacas, bunnies, cats, dogs and many other animals?

The event involves a ceremony inside the cathedral with a procession of animals and their handlers (like Edie Falco, holding a baby Alpaca) and then a fair outside where people can have their own pets blessed. And let's face it—if you have a double stroller, you might as well use it to take your two pugs to be blessed.
