It was only five days ago that the NY Times was declaring rapper-turn-entrepreneur 50 Cent a "Renaissance Man" with "exceptional business instincts." Now the son of Queens has filed for bankruptcy today.

According to the Wall Street Journal, "In court papers filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Hartford, Conn., [Curtis] Jackson reported assets and debts each in the range of $10 million to $50 million." Maybe this is his attempt to stay rich or die tryin' because he was ordered to pay $5 million to Lavonia Leviston, who has a child with rapper Rick Ross, after leaking a sex tape of her and a former boyfriend. Here's how the Daily News describes the tape:

Jackson had doctored the tape of Leviston and a former boyfriend named Maurice Murray by superimposing his own character “Pimpin’ Curly” in the video while giving an expletive laced narration of the action, referring to Leviston as a “bitch” and a “ho” and describing her body parts in crude detail. He ends the tape by telling Leviston, “You a motherf----- porn star now.”

The video went viral in March 2009 after Jackson had promoted it on his website and posted links to the full 13 minute video, which racked up millions of views. It also ended up on numerous porn sites.

Leviston's lawyer had originally asked for a judgement of $20 million.

50 Cent reportedly made $500 million after investing in beverage company Vitamin Water. One of his many purchases during his flush days was Mike Tyson's Connecticut mansion:
