Natalie Portman is the Golden girl of the moment, what with her win for Best Actress in a Drama for Black Swan. But the reception to her pale pink Viktor & Rolf gown is more mixed: Style.com said it was "ravishing" but the Fug Girls said, "Portman's pink sheath is Grecian in its draping, with a large red flower between her boobs. In the end, it's a bit of a wah-waaah moment... the more we look at it, the less we are endeared." If anything, it's the surprisingly-nominated Angelina Jolie who stole the show in a green sequined Versace gown.
The NY Times' Cathy Horyn, who was a bit cruel to Christina Hendricks last year, said of the other Golden Globe Best Actress (for the comedy The Kids are All Right) Annette Bening, she "may have had on a great-looking Tom Ford lace column, but her un-coiffeur and horn rims seemed almost calculated to avoid inclusion in the usual post-show mop-up of trends."
Tilda Swinton looked very cool in Jil Sander and thank goodness for Helena Bonham Carter keeping things interesting. As for Emma Stone, well, we'll let Joan Rivers Tweet-speak for us, "The Golden Globes' red carpet is in full swing and the starlets are out! These girls are so thin…they’d tell Gandhi to drop a few pounds."
