Yesterday, a jury found a man guilty of manslaughter, assault and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence for fatally striking a pregnant woman on a Midtown sidewalk in March 2009. Ysemny Ramos was walking on East 37th Street when she was run over by Keston Brown. Brown was acquitted of aggravated vehicular homicide and five other charges, but his lawyer said, "You always want a complete victory. My client is still in there."

Driver Goes On Trial For Fatally Striking Pregnant Woman
Last year, a pregnant mother of three walking on East 37th Street was killed when a Gristede's van driver jumped a curb and barreled into her. Another woman was injured and the driver, Keston Brown, was found with a 0.11 blood alcohol level. Yesterday, Brown went on trial for Ramos' death, and a prosecutor accused him of hitting the gas instead of the brakes when the van—"essentially a moving weapon"—hit the curb.
Family, Friends Mourn Van Crash Victim
Ysemny Ramos' husband finally told his three children that their mother (and stepmother) died. Ramos, who was three months pregnant, was killed on Friday when a Gristede's delivery van jumped a curb in Midtown and slammed into her. The Daily News reports that, according to the criminal complaint, the driver Keston Brown "told investigators he had had four beers and a shot of cognac before he got behind the wheel of the van" on Friday afternoon.
Fatal Midtown Crash: Survivor Speaks, Faulty Van Defense
The husband of a pregnant woman, killed when a Gristede's van—driven by an allegedly drunk man—jumped a curb and slammed into her, raged at the horrible tragedy. In spite of driver Keston Brown being charged with manslaughter, the victim's husband Raynaldo Ramos told the Daily News there would be no justice, "If they do a million years, she ain't coming back. If they do the death penalty, she ain't coming back."
