Ming finished with 36 points as the Knicks once again showed their indifference to the defensive end of the floor. Both Curry and Randolph were in the starting lineup, which doesn’t help matters. - Rockets 97, Knicks 90: The state of the Knicks is so sad that their former coach has more wins at Madson Square Garden with his new team than the Knicks' current head coach does. Jeff Van Gundy is 7-1 against the Knicks with four consecutive wins at MSG and Isiah Thomas is 1-5 at home. Yao Ming led all scorers with 26 points and Tracy McGrady added 24. Jamal Crawford led the Knicks with 25 points off the bench while Stephon Marbury had a measly three points in less than 20 minutes of play. In unbelievable news, Nate Robinson (5'9") blocked one of Yao's (7'6") shots. Despite pulling out all the stops for the Chinese basketball fans in the area (BD Wong sang the National Anthem), The Garden was not full.

-Heat 113, Nets 106: The Nets couldn't hold a 10-point halftime lead, and they lost Richard Jefferson to a sprained ankle. Miami's recent success against the Nets should be unsettling. The Heat has won the last six meetings between the two clubs -- two this season and the last four of the playoffs in the spring. Vince Carter scored 33 points on an efficient night from the floor, but it was the Nets' defense that let them down.

Nets player Cliff Robinson has been suspended for five games after violating the NBA's drug policy. What the violation was exactly is unclear, but what is clear is that the suspension is effective tonight's Game 3 against the Miami Heat and that it wipes him out for the rest of this series. Which sucks, because the Nets needed him to guard Shaq and take those fouls. Robinson was suspended for violating the drug policy in 2005 when he was with the Golden State Warriors, right before he was traded to the Nets. Oh, Uncle Cliffy!

The Knicks may have even topped their two narrow losses to Chicago by allowing seven 3-pointers and 38 points during the final quarter in Toronto. Jalen Rose (who is Isiah Thomas' latest object of desire) led the charge with 24 for the Raps, who are essentially a starless team since trading Vince Carter to the Nets for a collection of role players. Jamal Crawford looked rusty in his second game back from a turf toe (!!) injury, and nobody else seemed able to pick up the slack on offense.

It's two games into the Stephon Marbury–as–a–Knick era, and though it might be premature to say, it's looking bleak. Eight points his first game, six points last night (though he did get 10 assists). Even though everyone is talking about how a team can't click immediately, Marbury said, "I would never think that it would happen this bad."

Note to Apple: While your press images of the mini iPod are pretty, they really don't give people a sense of its size, which our friend JW pointed out ("Why not, say, an apple next to them, so people can see how small they are?"). I'm not an Apple user, but I do love their design. At this year's Macworld, they introduced the new 17" laptop, as well the 12" laptop. Check out the ad and videos that broke at MacWorld.
