Daily Show And Jon Stewart Remember 9/13, The Day 9/11 Exploitation Began

Last night, Jon Stewart shared a promo for a very special Daily Show segment, ostensibly airing tonight, on 9/13 (unless this too is a joke). Called simply, "The Daily Show Remembers 9/13/2001: Remembering The Day We Forgot The Lessons Of The Day We Swore We Would Always Remember," the segment promises to look back on all the low points of 9/11 exploitation, which began two days after the attacks, with Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson blaming pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays, the ACLU and others for "helping" 9/11 happen. more ›

At Least Two Republican Senators Will Vote For Sotomayor

At Least Two Republican Senators Will Vote For Sotomayor

With the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings over, a few Republican Senators have indicated their support for President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, federal judge Sonia Sotomayor. CBS News reports that Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Indiana) said she was "clearly qualified to serve on the Supreme Court," while Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Florida) said he takes "great pride in her historic achievement." And Sen. Arlen Specter, the former Republican turned Democrat, said Sotomayor had "displayed intellect, restraint and judicial demeanor." Last night, The Daily Show's Wyatt Cenac visited the South Bronx native's high school, Cardinal Spellman, to "expose [her] gang ties and racist affiliations by talking to her former classmates." SNL Looking to Hire a Black Obama

SNL Looking to Hire a Black Obama

2008_11_armisen.jpgWe wondered if last week SNL's Joe Biden cold opening might be signaling the end of Fred Armisen's tenure as Barack Obama. Now word comes that Lorne Michaels is in fact auditioning four black comedians to take over the role. Speculation is that the four contenders are The Colbert Report's Jordan Carlos, The Daily Show's Wyatt Cenac, (recently canceled) MAD TV's Jordan Peele and 30 Rock writer/Derrick Comedy's Donald Glover. There's no word if casting for an ebony comedienne to portray Michelle is likely to follow. But with Armisen out as Barack, that's one less politically incorrect hurdle for the show. As for SNL being called out for their recent "homoverload," the show's guy-on-guy action probably isn't going away any time soon. We realized this upon stumbling upon a famous NY Mag cover story on the show from 1995 where then cast member Janeane Garofalo said, “They love the anal sex here. That’s considered incredibly funny.” more ›
