A Brooklyn barbershop owner was shot in the head and killed by a gunman in front of customers in his shop yesterday. Warren Billings, 38, was shot one time in his shop on Cortelyou Road near Flatbush Ave. at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday. "I only heard one shot, and I saw a shadow run by the store as fast as he could," said Winston Levy, who was working next door.

Witnesses Allegedly Saw Brutal Queens Attack, Didn't Help
While discussing the death of a 23-year-old woman who was brutally beaten and raped in a Flushing alley, Assemblywoman Grace Meng told NY1, based on witnesses and surveillance video, "At least three people were seen to have watched the beating and the assault and did not scream, did not yell for help, did not do anything. I myself have been really disappointed and angry." One witness did call 911 and police were able to arrest Carlos Salazar Cruz. The victim, Yu Yao, who had immigrated from China two months ago on a student visa, had suffered a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and trauma to the vagina (she was beaten and raped with a pipe) and was taken off life support on Friday.

Passengers and LIRR employees are painting a much different picture of Sunday night's arrest of an off-duty NYPD officer who pointed his gun at rowdy Rangers fans. You'll recall that Officer David Hendrick, a 16-year veteran, gave a television interview Monday night insisting that he pulled his weapon in self-defense after the hockey fans reacted violently to his attempts to shush them. But court papers obtained by Newsday tell a different story.

Sources tell NY1 that three witnesses heard the officer who fatally shot an armed, plainclothes off-duty officer In Harlem Thursday night identify himself as NYPD. Those three witnesses include the two other cops who arrived on the scene with officer Andrew who fired and the car break-in suspect that slain Officer Omar Edwards was chasing, Migueal Goitia. According to the Post, Goitia [earlier identified with the last name alias "Santiago"] has been hospitalized several times for unknown reasons since his arrest.
