Amare Stoudemire finally has a star to share Madison Square Garden with: After much speculation, he Knicks have agreed to send Danilo Galinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov, their 2014 first round draft pick, and two second-round draft picks (one in 2012 and one in 2013) and $3 million to the Denver Nuggets for Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Renaldo Balkman, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter. Plus the Knicks will send Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry and $3 million to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Corey Brewer. The Post reports, "An NBA source said Dolan was hell-bent on getting Anthony to keep him from Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, who has become a rival. Denver preferred the Nets' draft-pick-laden trade offer until Mozgov was added."
Knicks Get Carmelo Anthony (Bye, Galinari, Chandler, Felton)
Grandma Upset After Wilson Chandler's Pot Arrest
After Knicks forward Wilson Chandler was arrested for pot possession while driving in Queens, the Daily News asked his 76-year-old grandmother for a comment—and they sure got one: "I don't know about pot in his car. I ain't heard nothing from him yet. I didn't raise him to smoke pot." Chandler was pulled over because his headlights weren't on at 11:30 p.m. The car "smelled more like a Grateful Dead concert than a Knick game" and he and passenger Lamonte Yarbrough admitted to smoking pot. Police found bags of marijuana in the car's center console and in the trunk. The pair are due in court July 1; the Knicks said, "We have spoken to Wilson regarding last night’s incident and will not be commenting at this time."
Pot Possession Charge For Knicks' Wilson Chandler
Last night wasn't very good for the Knicks. Not only did they miss out on the draft lottery, their forward Wilson Chandler was charged with pot possession. According to the Post, "Chandler, who turned 23 last week, was carrying what was described as a 'small amount' of marijuana when cops pulled over the 2010 Mercedes-Benz he was riding in near 94th Avenue and 213th Street in Queens at 11:30 p.m., police said. Cops decided to search Chandler after they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, police said. Chandler was issued a desk appearance ticket for the misdemeanor charge." Chandler is scheduled for sports hernia surgery—medical marijuana anyone?
Last Night's Action: Knicks Are Rolling
Knicks 92 Philadelphia 88: It’s too little, too late, but the Knicks are playing better recently. And Friday they won a game they seemed likely to lose because David Lee and Wilson Chandler didn’t play. But, Gallinari had 25 points and Toney Douglas had 22 to lead them to victory.
Last Night's Action: The Kobe Show was in Town
Kobe Bryant was in town, but he wasn't able to deliver his usual stellar performance at The Garden. Bryant, who had a 61-point outing in his last visit to New York City, finished the game with a measly 27 points. New York actually had a one-point lead entering the 3rd quarter, but unfortunately for the Knicks, the Lakers started the 4th quarter with a 20-9 run. Kobe was able to score 13 points in the 4th quarter to help the Lakers to victory. David Lee led the Knicks with 31 points and 17 rebounds while Wilson Chandler scored 28 points in the loss.
Last Night's Action: Playoffs!
Jets 37 Cincinnati 0: On a cold and windy night at the Meadowlands, the Jets did exactly what they needed to do, thrashing the Bengals and earning a playoff spot. New York took the opening kickoff and marched down the field for a touchdown with Thomas Jones plunging in for a touchdown. After forcing the Bengals to go three and out, the Jets added a field goal to go up 10-0. Brad Smith had a 32-yard touchdown run to make it 17-0 and Jerricho Cotchery hauled in a touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez to make it 24-0. The Bengals turned the ball over to the Jets in the waning seconds of the first half and New York added a field goal to go up 27-0 at the half.
Last Night's Action: Same Formula, Same Result
What's a good sign your team isn't going to win? Larry Hughes tallies the most minutes. He did that Monday with 41, and his the Knicks lost, 95-93, to Utah. The Knicks continued their 2009 trend of falling behind early (by nine after one quarter and 17 at the half) before rallying furiously only to come up short. Does anyone see a pattern forming here? Toney Douglas (pictured) surprised with 21 off the bench for the Knicks, who also got 17 from Wilson Chandler. New York checked Deron Williams' scoring -- the point guard had only five points -- but not his passing. He had 16 assists.
Last Night's Action: A Win Up North
- Knicks 102, Timberwolves 94: If the Knicks want to make the playoffs, they'll have to win games like this one. Wilson Chandler had 24 points and 12 rebounds. David Lee posted yet another double-double (12 and 13) and Nate Robinson had 25 points and seven assists. He continues to get to the line -- he made 14-of-17 attempts. The Knicks' position in the conference doesn't look too good, but they are on the cusp of the playoffs. If they keep on winning, stranger things have happened.
- Louisville 69, Villanova 55: Rick Pitino hasn't done too well at his hometown tournament. The New York native and product of St. Dominic's High School in Oyster Bay has seen Louisville have some short stays at the Big East Tournament in his tenure. At halftime of this one, it seemed as if the Cardinals were due for another early exit. But they came back against Jay Wright's Villanova team and advanced to the final. The quest for a No. 1 seed is very much alive.
- Syracuse 74, West Virginia 69 (OT): Only one overtime? Ridiculous! One night after playing six overtimes against Connecticut, Syracuse snuck by West Virginia in one. Jim Boeheim has five titles at the Big East Tournament. He'll try to No. 6 Saturday.
Last Night's Action: A Blowout for the Knicks
- Knicks 127, Raptors 97: Nate Robinson is calling it the "funnest basketball of his career." Luckily his on-court skill exceeds his grammatical ability. He had 26 to go along with a career-high 32 from Wilson Chandler and a measly 24 from David Lee. The Knicks never trailed, led by as many as 38 and have now equaled last season's win total of 23. They did all this with Chris Wilcox dressed but on the bench. Larry Hughes was in street clothes and ineligible to play since the players sent to Chicago have yet to clear their physicals. The two teams meet again Sunday in Toronto.
- Wizards 107, Nets 96: Things are not as rosy for the Nets. They lost to the lowly Wizards one day after making no moves at the trade deadline. Vince Carter, too expensive to swap, had 17 points. Devin Harris had 26 points and 10 assists. For reference, Washington improved to 13-42 with the win. The Nets aren't world-beaters, but they should take care of the Wizards at home.
Last Night's Action: Chandler Saves the Day
Trailing by six entering the fourth quarter, New York held Houston to 18 points in the final period. This was the first time they had won a game in which they trailed after three quarters -- they were 0-21.
Last Night's Action: Good Ending to a Bad Trip
- Knicks 101, Hornets 95: Picking the Knicks to go 1-3 on this four-game road swing would have ben a popular position. Most would have thought they had the team to take care of Oklahoma City but not one to down Houston, Dallas or New Orleans. But an upset in the Big Easty saved an 0-4 trip that started with a disaster in Oklahoma City. They almost blew a 14-point lead late. David Lee had 24, Wilson Chandler had 19 and Al Harrington had 20 off the bench. Next up is a home-and-home against Washington.
- Nets 103, Thunder 99 (OT): Devin Harris returned but the Nets needed overtime to beat the lowly Thunder. Harris had 17, but rookie Brook Lopez had 31. The Nets started the season 5-12 at home but are now 9-12. They're also .500 on the season at 19-19. Given the low expectations they faced this season, they have to be happy to be mediocre.

Last Night's Action: That Would Have Been Bad
Making The Call: The Knicks Have A Lot Of Work To Do
The Knicks’ plan is clear, wait until July 2010 and then sign LeBron James and possibly Chris Bosh or another superstar as well. The problem is there is a lot of work left to be done to realize that plan. The Knicks will enter the 2010-11 season with four players under contract: Eddy Curry, Jared Jeffries, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari. That gives the Knicks plenty of space under the salary cap, but it is hardly the makings of a good team and that is what is most important to LeBron.
Last Night's Action: Not Bad, But Not Great
Making The Call: Knicks Are Finally Watchable Again
Maybe it was Isiah Thomas and his constant trades that did it. Maybe it was the lousy basketball that did it. Maybe you are just waiting (and waiting) for the Nets to move to Brooklyn. Whatever the reason, at some point you stopped caring about the Knicks and no one can blame you. Being a Knicks’ fan has been almost impossible for the last few years and having doubts about their 6-3 start is only natural.

Last Night's Action: Sneak Preview?
Last Night's Action: Another Step Closer To The End
The Knicks keep finding new and interesting ways to lose. Monday’s 110-98 loss saw them shoot the lights out from three-point range, hitting 47%, but miss a lot of shots from inside the arc, hitting less than 40%. Zach Randolph had a nice game, scoring 21 points and pulling down 14 rebounds while Wilson Chandler continued his development with an up-and-down night that saw him score 15 points.
Last Night's Action: Another Fun Night In Knickland
The Knicks clinched a losing record for the season with their 100-88 defeat Monday, but what happened off the court was much more interesting. Stephon Marbury, the pariah point guard who was reportedly banned from MSG, was supposed to show up tonight. At the morning shootaround Isiah told reporters, “We expect him here tonight,” when discussing Marbury. And, true to form, Marbury made his coach look bad again by not showing up at all.
Last Night's Action: Guess Who Lost?
The Mardy Collins era lasted approximately six minutes. Pushed into the starting lineup in place of Stephon Marbury, Collins sprained his foot halfway through the first quarter. And, Collins’ injury was just the beginning as Phoenix trounced the Knicks 113-102 while shooting 56% from the field. To make matters worse, Renaldo Balkman went down with an injury later in the game and had to be helped off the court. With Quentin Richardson out with an...
