While the DOT is hard at work installing barriers at the bottom of the Williamsburg Bridge bike/pedestrian path in Manhattan, the NYPD is hard at work on the other side of the bridge writing tickets to cyclists. During yesterday's p.m. rush hour, a tipster sent us these photos of the NYPD issuing a slew of summonses. The offense? Riding the wrong way down a wide, sleepy half-block to get to the cyclist entrance to the bridge. The witness estimates that he saw "16-20 people" ticketed in twenty minutes, which seems hard to believe, but he tells us the offending cyclists were ordered to stand on line and wait their turn as the cops took care of business (literally).

Greenpoint Hit-And-Run Leaves Man at Death's Door
A 28-year-old web designer is clinging to life after a hit-and-run accident in Greenpoint early Sunday morning. Police say Neil Chamberlain, a native of Lexington, Massachusetts who now resides in Williamsburg, was run over shortly before 4 a.m. on Calyer Street between McGuinness Boulevard and Newel Street. Police have no description of the vehicle that struck Chamberlain and fled the scene; Chamberlain was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
New Restaurants on the Radar: Campbell Terrace, The Flying Cow, Cure
Campbell Terrace: Summer's here (in spirit) and the time is right to relax outside in mahogany rocking chairs and drink. Campbell Terrace, run by the same folks who operate the clubby Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Terminal, have just re-opened for the season in the Vanderbilt Avenue portico between 42nd and 43rd Streets. Boasting 1,500 square feet of shady, open-air imbibing, the terrace's myriad rocking chairs are a homage to the furniture provided in the ladies' waiting rooms in the early days of Grand Central Terminal. This year Campbell Terrace reopens with a new and expanded spirits menu, featuring vintage cocktails such as the Strawberry Southside (Gin, fresh muddled strawberries and mint topped with Champagne), and signature cocktail The Terrace Punch (Cane rum, orange liqueur, ginger liqueur, mango nectar, fresh lemon juice and a pinch of allspice). The food menu is the same as the inside bar, and includes club sandwiches, quesadillas, and cheese plates. Open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. 15 Vanderbilt Avenue, (212) 980-9476.
Hipster Grifter Meets Street Art
Have you learned to love the hipster grifter story yet? If not, we encourage you to scroll up or down to read another post, and remind you that you're also entitled to a full refund on your subscription fee. Still here? Check it out: This photoshopped movie poster featuring Kari Ferrell was just spotted in Williamsburg, home to her target demographic. This may be good news for Hipster Grifter haters, however; FreeWilliamsburg astutely points out that now this has reached the street art medium, it's officially over... At least until the inevitable Grifster Handbook hits the Urban Outfitters discount book table.
