Terrible 2 No More If you were to compare WCBS today with WCBS a year ago, you would definitely notice that something has changed. Sure, the graphics and music have changed, but that isn’t really it: What happened is that the station has finally gotten a clearer focus - not just because the station went HD. It's in the quality of the product they put on air and what CBS has been covering. It was...

Last Monday, Gothamist set down with award winning sportscaster Len Berman. A New York native, Berman attended Stuyvesant High School and started his broadcast career while a student at Syracuse University. He got his start in television news as a reporter (and later news anchor) in 1970 at WLWD-TV (now WDTN-TV)in Dayton, Ohio. Three years later, he moved to Boston’s WBZ-TV, where he served as sports director and called Boston Celtics and New England Patriots games. In 1979 he returned to New York as weekend sports anchor for WCBS-TV.

The Daily News reported that Field was working without a contract at WWOR.

Many people in the tri-state area have been asking the same question: “What the hell is going on at Channel 2?” The one easy answer is that it is the work of the station’s general manager Peter Dunn.

Albert was the longtime voice of the Knicks until last June when Albert and Cablevision couldn't agree on a contract. Since then, Albert has continued to call NBA games with TNT. Ian Eagle, the current Nets announcer will call the remaining games for the team.

Related: Congratulations to whatevs, as his Detroit Pistons defeated the L.A. Lakers for the NBA Championship. Gothamist has yet to send whatevs the spoils from the bet we had for the Eastern Conference finals (because we're still waiting for a new shipment of Gothamist t-shirts!), but let it be known that Gothamist's stance is that the Nets were the second best team in the league this year, given that the Nets took the Pistons to 7 games, whereas the Lakers were defeated in 5. Sure, Albert was biting the hand that fed him, but who is James Dolan kidding? Has he seen the Knicks of late? They deserve criticism. Leafing through the paper this morning, Gothamist was shocked, stunned, shaking our heads. But what do we know? All we know is that Knick broadcasts will not be the same.

- Gothamist Weather on tornadoes in the NYC area (there have only been 4 NYC-area tornados since 1960, but given what Day After Tomorrow tells us, maybe we should worry!)

A young Gothamist remembers watching Wolf every day on Channel 2, his funny highlights, his incessant laughing at times, and of course we remember the classic, "Let's go to the videotape!" We'll miss his use of cue cards and his prediction of scores and we'll miss those highlights of horseraces at Aqueduct. We'll miss everything about Warner Wolf. Sadly, an adult Gothamist didn't catch Warner Wolf as much as we would like, but anytime we heard his voice, we were immediately reminded of good times. Gothamist also remembers the first "departure" of Warner Wolf, when Bernie Smilovitz replaced him. Thankfully, Wolf returned to New York a few years later.
