The father of two young girls whose mother was gunned down in an execution-style killing in front of them is demanding custody of the kids. Since an unknown gunman murdered 30-year-old Lakisha Scriven earlier this month, her daughters Alanna, 8, and Aleila, 5, have been staying with their grandmother. But their 37-year-old father Clarence White — who had moved out of Scriven's house before the killing after disputes and threats — wants his kids back. His attorney claims Scriven's mother illegally "absconded" with the children. "His rights as a father have been completely trampled on," the attorney told the Post. "We want the kids back where they belong; with their father for Christmas." more ›

The driver suspected in a fatal Bronx hit-and-run on Friday has a suspended license and a lengthy automotive rap sheet. Sheldon Reid, 28, is accused of mowing down 40-year-old Sonya Powell at around 8:30 pm as she walked home from Christmas shopping in Wakefield with her fiancé. more ›

In the Wakefield section of the Bronx, a homeowner managed to shoot one of the men apparently attempting to rob his house. The suspect was killed (in the doorway), while another was wounded—but two other suspects fled. According to WABC 7, "The four suspects burst into the man's home on Bussing Avenue just before 12:15 a.m. this morning. They held up the occupant of the home, until he grabbed the gun from one of the suspects." Two guns found at the scene are believed to be from the suspects. The NYPD made a major gang bust in the Bronx yesterday, rounding up twenty-one Bloods on a slew of charges in connection with a pattern of gang related violence in and around the Edenwald Houses—54 indictments in total for charges on everything from murder to selling drugs. The Daily News reports that "ten of the men were hauled into Bronx Supreme Court, handcuffed together by a long chain" as at least one onlooker silently hummed Sam Cooke in their head. Five of the gang members were charged with attempted murder, including one of the accused as young as fifteen and cops say members as young as thirteen have been employed to carry out shootings. The News says that four of the men arrested are believed to be part of the gang's leadership. The group from the Wakefield section of the Bronx goes by the name "Brother for Another" and includes members nicknamed "Fizzy Woo," "Weezy" and "Drip." more ›
