More Halloween Photos: Ghostbusters! Batmobile!

             + 1 more

We've got more photos from last night's Halloween parade, featuring a lot of homemade costumes, and not a Snooki in sight! The Batmobile made an appearance, as did Homer Simpson, a few characters from 9, a plate of spaghetti and a majestic headdress made entirely of MetroCards. (Though she should have saved them—new ones will have a $1 surcharge come January!) The scariest? The overflowing toilet. We'd take a zombie over that thing any day. more ›

Boo! Halloween Parade Marches Tonight

Happy Halloween, guys! Though the holiday is officially today, folks have been out in costumes all weekend long. Tonight's main event will be the 38th Annual Village Halloween parade, the theme of which is Memento Mori. The parade kicks off from Broome Street and 6th Avenue and heads up to 16th Street. The organizers say it will be most crowded between Bleecker Street and 14th Street, and the whole thing will be broadcast on WPIX if you can't make it down to watch. And if you have any fun photos of people in costumes, email them to us at photos@gothamist.com, or tag them "gothamist" on Flickr! more ›

Happy Halloween, NYC

Happy Halloween, NYC

Just in time for restless New Yorkers to cut loose (men to dress in drag, women to dress as sluts - hey, we're not judging, just observing), it's a surprisingly mild Halloween today. While there were a fair share of parties over the weekend (we took the subway with naughty nurses, ballplayers, witches, and angry New Yorkers!), tonight is the real deal, with the Village Halloween Parade getting started at 7PM, as revelers walk along Sixth Avenue from Spring Street until 23rd Street. This year's parade is New Orleans-themed, with 15 year old Glen Hall III, a third generation musician from New Orleans, acting as the grand marshal, which is amusing as many of the costumes are definitely R-rated. We do, though, suspect some people will try to look like conservative Golden Girls - you know, Harriet Miers - as well as dress up as Angelina Jolie and Brad PItt (Wellingtons and men's shirts), Paris HIlton (no underwear), Tara Reid (no breast coverage) and Dick Cheney (on a gurney). Let us know what you're dressing up as tonight. more ›
