A Touch of Grace

A Touch of Grace

It sounds like a Project Runway challenge: create a look Princess Grace would have worn. However, the six gowns that are currently being displayed in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue were created by some of the top designers -- each being paired with a specific look to be reinterpreted in a modern way. more ›

Adena Halpern, Author, Target Underwear and a Vera Wang Gown

Fashion writer Adena Halpern made a name for herself with her "Haute Life" column in Marie Claire and decided to turn her love for clothing into a memoir, She takes readers through her various wardrobes choices, from the unfortunate to the invaluable, weaving her jobs and relationships into the fabric of her tales, including the title garments, which each play a major role. In chapters such as "The Devil Wore Treetorns" and "Girdles, Corsets, and Other Ways of Killing Yourself," Halpern probes the meaning of clothes and the power individual items have to make or break one's day-or relationship. She takes readers with her on her shopping and dating endeavors, from bargain hunting for a living to getting her fake Prada tote stolen, dating a "Democrat in Republican's clothing" and lusting after "The Beautiful Boy in the 8-Ball Jacket," emulating (and even encountering) Madonna, often joined by her gang of girlfriends, "the six women you meet in Los Angeles." Rather than a rundown of endless outfit changes, hers is a fun account of just how far one woman will go for the perfect pair of underwear. more ›

Emmys Coverage 2006: We're Only Watching for Conan

But then we realized Conan O'Brien was hosting, so we must watch and liveblog. And there's the hope of a good Steve Carrell bit, not to mention awkward reaction shots of Candy and Tori Spelling during the Aaron Spelling tribute. more ›

Project Runway 3: Overdue on Icons

Okay, we didn't write about Episode 5 of Project Runway last week, and for that we apologize because that lack of discipline simply does not work. But that meant we've had time to watch the episode, oh, about 4 times all the way through, plus various snippets repeatedly whenever we turn on Bravo, we've had time to think: more ›

Why the Rich Are Different

Why the Rich Are Different

So, there's a Page Six item that involves the usual Page Six details: A rich New Yorker (a celebrity dentist with patients "Donald Trump, Sumner Redstone, Harvey Weinstein, Bruce Springsteen, Kathie Lee Gifford, Christie Brinkley, Chloe Sevigny, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Bridget Hall") who has a house in the Hamptons. But then you find out that the rich dentist made his own son sue him for damages about he and his son took a spill on a Vespa. Dr. Larry Rosenthal's son managed to get $85,000 from his dad's insurance company. Apparently the money went to tending to the son's medical bills and the rest went into a trust, but Rosenthal, who had a "punctured lung, broken ribs and other injuries after being dragged by a car that hit him as he lay on the road" didn't sue anyone. Our crazy legal system! more ›
