It's time to dust off the 'ole giant pink human colon costume: the annual Veggie Pride Parade is taking place tomorrow in Manhattan! Participants will gather in Greenwich Village (where Little West 12th Street, Ganesvoort Street, Greenwich Street and 9th Avenue all converge) at noon and march to the north end of Union Square Park, where there will be post-parade speeches and other festivities.

At that point, the keynote speaker delivered a veggie pride-filled speech—this year that person was Mickey Z., who spoke with Super Vegan prior to the big event.

New York’s Veggie Pride Parade wound through downtown Manhattan yesterday, stretching from its defiant start in the Meat Packing District to its triumphant conclusion at the Washington Square Park. The event, intended to raise awareness about the benefits of a vegetarian and vegan diet, featured participants dressed in costumes like a seven-foot-tall pea pod, a giant carrot, and, according to the Times, “a giant pink replica of a human colon, replete with polyps and a sullied colostomy bag, [bringing] up the rear.”
