Sometimes, there's nothing quite like a hot shower, but an elderly Bronx man got more than he was bargaining for with his shower. In 2004, 88 year-old Daniel Feliciano was showering when the water suddenly became "super hot", causing him to fall in his tub. He was treated for burns to his arms, abdomen, thigh, legs, and groin and was bed ridden in the hospital for three months and an additional three months at home. Tests found the water to be 180°.

For the second time in a year a patch of radioactive land has been found in the Great Kills Gateway National Recreation Area on Staten Island. The contaminated area is in a wetland area that was made accessible after a wildfire last week.

It all comes together tomorrow, as the Archdiocese of New York (and the surrounding areas, as well as other parts of the country) is allowing Catholics to eat beef on tomorrow. For all you non-Catholics, on Friday during Lent, plus Ash Wednesday, Catholics aren't allowed to eat meat (fish is okay - sorry fishmongers!). But this is special: The Archdiocese of New York explained to AM New York, "Because St. Patrick is the patron saint of the diocese, the day should be celebrated as a feast day." A feast of beer and corned beef - and shamrock shakes! Here's a list of Irish bars in the city - let us know your suggestions.

The first case of mad cow disease is announced the U.S. Americans freak out, other countries smirk and ban U.S. beef. Take that, U.S.A., for banning our food, like Mad Cow: UK Edition, Asian bird flu, and foot and mouth disease.
