Perhaps the only place you'll see snow in New York City this winter is today in Union Square and this weekend in Central Park. On the north end of Union Square, where the farmers market and skateboarders usually are, there's now a man-made hill with 132 tons of snow trucked in from Mountain Creek in New Jersey. The Union Square Street Sessions, which made its debut last year, has 20 competitors vying for $30,000 in prize money today.

No snow? No mountains? No problem. This afternoon, New York City will play host to its first snowboard competition ever. The Union Square Street Sessions will feature 24 different male competitors as they compete for $30,000 in prize money. The list of riders (some as young as 14 and 15) scheduled to appear include New Jersey's Danny Kass, Marc Frank Montoya, and Eddie Wall. For the competition, snow and rails were brought in from Mountain Creek in New Jersey. One of the rails for the competitors is actually attached to a Jeep.
