On Sunday, Al Leiter faced Cubs ace Kerry Wood with Leiter getting some help from the offense early. The Mets picked up three runs in the first inning off Wood, who was less than steady. Leiter pitched six strong innings of two hit ball, giving up two runs in the fourth inning, which could have been worse. With bases loaded, Leiter got a called third strike against Moises Alou that ended the inning, allowing the Mets to go on and win, 3-2 (box score).

Over the weekend, Gothamist took a trip south and checked out the AAA Mets affiliate, the Norfolk Tides. There's nothing quite like taking in a minor league double header. Things are cheaper, you can get nice and close, and it's a fan friendly environment. It's possible that Gothamist even indulged in too much food.

Wigginton's home run gives the Mets another chance to get their record to .500, an elusive mark thus far. They look to sweep the 3-game series against the Rockies behind Tom Glavine who will face former Met Shawn Estes.
