Last Night's Action: A-Rod Ties It In 9th, Teixeira Wins It In 11th

The Yankees are one game away from the American League Championship Series, after last night's dramatic 4-3 win in game two of the Division Series over the Minnesota Twins. The game went into extra innings, courtesy of Alex Rodriguez, who hit a game-tying two-run home run off All-Star closer Joe Nathan in the 9th inning, tying the game at 3-3. Then, in the 11th inning, Teixiera hit a home run—what the NY Times called "a screamer down the left-field line...The ball just cleared the 318-foot sign and sent the crowd of 50,006 into sudden delirium."

Matthew and Sarah Plus Three

Well that doesn't really flow off the tongue as well, but awwww, aren't these the cutest little marriage band-aids you've ever seen? Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick (and big brother James Wilkie) are showing off their twin babies, Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, who are 8 days old today. The NY Post reports that the photo was taken "in Manhattan, where the family lives, exactly one week after the twins were born to a surrogate mother in Ohio." The couple has announced that "the babies are doing beautifully," and Broderick declared, "We have to get a lot of princess toys." Full image after the jump.

Burlesque Twins Sue Box Owner Simon Hammerstein

Simon Hammerstein, proprietor of decadent downtown burlesque theater The Box, has been hit with a lawsuit filed by two former employees who accuse him of sexual harassment. You may recall this sordid story; twin sisters from Portland, "famous" for their onstage sex toy routine called "Twincest," quit The Box over the summer amidst allegations that Hammerstein was "forcing" them to perform sexual favors for him, and generally treating The Box as his personal, drug-fueled harem. In a subsequent NY Mag profile called "The Impresario of Smut," Hammerstein denied the accusations, but a number of people associated with The Box seemed to support the twins' debauched depiction of the place. Their lawyer tells the Post, "He felt free to treat them as his porcelain toys to play with at will." But until they can get some payback from the Impresario, they'll be performing their act around Portland, and selling their book, The Porcelain Twinz, Our Life in the Sex Industry, through their website, where you can also purchase their DVD!

Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins yesterday in France. Her doctor confirmed the births of baby boy Knox Leon (5.03 pounds) and baby girl Vivienne Marcheline (5 pounds), saying, "The babies are doing well" and that the Cesarean section "went just perfectly...The mother and father are very, very happy." The paparazzi have been camped outside the Lenval Hospital, and one celebrity photo agency owner told the AP photos of the fifth and sixth Jolie-Pitt children could go for between $15 and $20 million and the only thing that "would possibly come that close is Britney Spears giving birth to an alien."

The latest happening from the pranksters at Improv Everywhere – masters at getting weird looks from people as they plug in big desktop computers at Starbucks, flood Abercrombie & Fitch with shirtless average Joes, and (the best) freeze in Grand Central – is all about twins. Organizers recruited nine sets of identical twins in matching outfits to ride the 6 train uptown, sit across from each other and mirror each other's gestures. It's not The Shining, but bemused looks ensue.

Not too long ago it was reported that Jennifer Lopez was ready to burst as her belly swelled with twins on the way. She had visited a Long Island hospital with husband Marc Anthony and her couture hospital gowns, but it must have been a false alarm, because soon after she was attending Fashion Week events. Initially it was reported she would have a Cesarean birth that was scheduled for Valentine's Day; no word yet on whether she ended up going the natural way, as yesterday the twins finally arrived.
