December is here, and the responsible citizens behind National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month have their work cut out for them, because this month is also National Egg Nog Month. On Monday night the fabulous folks at Mount Gay Rum (no comments, please) will be kicking off the month-long nogathon with an eggsellent event at the swank World Bar, former home of the world’s most expensive cocktail, located in the Trump World Tower....

Gridskipper solicited picks for the city's ugliest buildings from eleven architecture-minded New Yorkers. The list includes Astor Place’s The Sculpture for Living building (which replaced a parking lot), the Queens Citicorp Building, the Pan Am Building (now the MetLife Building), the AT&T Building on Church St., the Cross Bronx Expressway and anything by Trump – but the Trump World Tower isn't really that ugly. Someone even mentioned the Hearst Tower. Wow.

Double-decker tour buses have in the past decade become a standard part of the average tourist's trip to the Big Apple. You see them everywhere in Manhattan and in the past few years they've even made it out to the wilds of Brooklyn. Sometimes when you're standing on a corner you can catch a snippet of the what a tour guide is telling their innocent charges, but other than that the average New Yorker has little to no idea what is actually getting said about our fair city to our thousands of visitors. So it was interesting for us to see in the today's Daily News an exposé on the validity of the average double-decker bus tour.

It's interesting to see how the Trump World Tower dominates the East Side skyline, amongst the Chrysler, MetLife (former Pan-Am), and Citicorp Center buildings. At this size and resolution, you can barely make out the airplane in the sky, which is what Gothamist was trying to shoot in the first place, as we are fascinated by planes in relation to city buildlings.
