Suspected Trevor Bell Shooter Tracked Through Cell Phone

Shawn Peace, the 22-year-old wanted for shooting livery cab driver Trevor Bell, has been arrested in Buffalo. Police easily identified the shooter from surveillance footage taken inside Bell's cab during the shooting, and were able to find him by tracking his cell phone usage. One source told the Daily News Peace may be responsible for over a dozen restaurant and livery cab robberies, mostly in Queens. The News also reports it's unclear why Peace was in Buffalo, but it's pretty obvious that not even the most hardened criminal can resist the siren call of the "City of Good Neighbors." Livery cab driver Trevor Bell has been in the hospital for over a month now after being shot in the neck and left for dead by a passenger on December 3rd. The suspected shooter, 22-year-old Shawn Peace, was caught on video fighting with Bell, and stole about $100 as he fled. But now Bell may be facing the loss of his livelihood; New York State Workers’ Compensation Board reportedly did not approve his claim for assistance with car loan payments, saying "the claimed injuries do not meet the qualifying criteria." more ›

Yesterday, police released surveillance video of a passenger suspected of shooting livery cab driver Trevor Bell in Ozone Park on Friday night. The video clearly shows the passenger in a hooded sweatshirt talking to Bell before engaging in a physical struggle. Toward the end of the video, the passenger pulls a gun. Fernando Mateo, president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, told CBS 2, “We don’t know exactly what transpired during the moments before the shooting, but I think that with the images that we have, we will able to at least have an idea as to how this whole thing went down." more ›

Suspect Robbed Livery Cab Driver Of Less Than $100

[UPDATE BELOW] Driver Trevor Bell is recovering after being shot multiple times by a passenger on Friday night, and investigators say the altercation began when Bell asked the passenger for the predetermined $12 fare. The passenger had walked into Big D Car service asking for a ride to 122nd Street and Sutter Avenue, but when Bell dropped him off at the dead end and asked for the fare, the passenger pulled out his gun and shot Bell, leaving him with bullet wounds in his neck, his arm and both his legs.
