That’s right Knicks fans, it was four years ago today that Isiah Thomas came to town and boldly stated, "My only goal is to win the N.B.A. championship. In my mind, everything else is failure."

The Knicks are making trades the only way they can by taking on salary. New York has just traded for Steve Francis, sending Trevor Ariza and Penny Hardaway to Orlando. The deal gives the Magic salary cap relief with the Knicks taking on another $32 million in salary.

Ben Gordon beat the Knicks again last night. Gordon hit a jumper over Trevor Ariza as time expired in overtime to give the Bulls a 106-104 victory. Stephon Marbury did not play for the Knicks ending his consecutive game streak and the date of his return to the lineup is unknown.

The Knicks fought back from a 19-point deficit midway through the third quarter to make it a two-point game with thirty seconds remaining, but they couldn’t stop Troy Hudson when it mattered. Hudson hit a three as the shot clock expired to clinch the victory for Minnesota.

The Knicks won again Sunday with Stephon Marbury leading the way. Marbury had 23 points, 15 assists and only one turnover as the Knicks beat Seattle 120-116. Once again, the Knicks shot over 50% from the field, exploiting the right matchups and getting mostly good looks at the basket.

Don’t look now, but the Knicks are on a winning streak. Channing Frye scored 30 points in only 26 minutes to lead the Knicks to a 113-92 victory over Washington Friday night.

Brown changed his starting lineup, making Trevor Ariza the new small forward and moving Quentin Richardson to shooting guard, but he still used eleven players with Jamal Crawford getting 24 minutes of playing time. Unfortunately, the Knicks couldn’t find anyone who could provide the defensive stops they needed as the Magic shot 49% from the field and scored 33 points in the fourth quarter.

It took six tries, but Larry Brown finally has his first win as the head coach of the New York Knicks. Last night, the Knicks held off the Sacramento Kings to win 105-95. Despite leading for 19 points in the first-half, the Knicks let the Kings back into the game in the 3rd quarter. Despite letting the Kings cut the lead to 6, the Knicks didn't fold up shop like they have so many times this season.

Forget for a second that Isiah just added another $20 million in salaries after this year with the addition of Taylor and Rose. By trading away his only true center, and helping the Spurs beef up their frontline, the Knicks roster now consists of one point guard (two if you count Jamal Crawford), three shooting guards, two small forwards, five power forwards and Bruno Sundov. In fact, the little used Sundov is the only player on the roster taller than Tim Thomas. As Peter Vescey rightfully opined today, remember when Isiah said that getting Mohammed was they key to the three way trade that sent Keith Van Horn out and also brought in Tim Thomas. And how does this affect the playing time of Mike Sweetney?

Well, we didn't get alot right, but at least we called Sebastian Telfair to the Blazers at 13. Gothamist spent the last week looking up florists in Portland, Orgeon so we could send Blazers GM John Nash a big bouquet of flowers. Because Telfair went early, high school stud Al Jefferson fell to Boston at 15, providing the Celtics with the bruising PF they so desperately needed.
