The NYPD, known around the world as a shining beacon of tolerance and open-mindedness, has further burnished its reputation by promoting a cop who liked to put on women's clothing and hang around in the Meatpacking District. Michael Pilecki, a 27-year NYPD veteran, was promoted to full inspector in a ceremony at Police Headquarters yesterday. But ten years ago, his future in the department didn't look to promising, because he was investigated by Internal Affairs after an incident in 2000.

The Candy magazine cover was shot by Terry Richardson, and the mag says they're "dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny, in all its manifestations." Lawyer: Ex-Cop, Killed by Wife, Was a "Very Sick Man"
Earlier this year, a woman confessed to shooting her retired cop husband in their Howard Beach home. Barbara Sheehan later claimed self-defense, saying Raymond Sheehan had abused her (neighbors and relatives say she had been abused; a neighbor even clapped for her when she was apprehended). Now her defense lawyer makes some much more detailed and dramatic accusations.
Drag Queens Suing Rockefeller Center
A fierce group of drag queens are suing Rockefeller Center, alleging that security guards tried to stop them from taking photos outside in the plaza and ordered them to disperse. WCBS reports that the festively dressed transvestites were having a gay old time taking photos of themselves when security guards approached and said they were not allowed to take pictures in the plaza.
