Angela Jewth is living a parent's nightmare. Her only son, 9-year-old Jonathan, died Wednesday—nine days after a choking incident at his Bronx school left him clinging to life in the hospital. Now she is getting ready to sue the city to find out why it appears nobody at P.S. 47 knew how to properly clear the healthy boy's airways of a rogue meatball. "If something had been done differently, my son would've been alive today," Jewth told the Daily News.

LI Cop Tragically Killed After Satanist Runs Wild "Rambo-Style"
A Long Island cop was mistakenly shot and killed by another officer while responding to a call about a Satanist decked out "Rambo-style" last night. The incident began when Theresa Kelly called Nassau County police after seeing neighbor Anthony DiGeronimo, dressed in Army fatigues and a white hockey mask stalking the streets in Massapequa Park, attacking and slashing cars with a giant knife. "I heard a loud thud against my window. I looked up and there was a man there wielding a knife and hitting my window. He was smirking and he was laughing. I screamed and he started to walk out of the driveway," 71-year-old Kelly told the Post.
Man Crushed To Death By Pickup Truck In Tragic Accident
In a terrible accident yesterday, a West African immigrant was crushed to death by the Toyota pickup truck he was trying to ship home in a container truck. According to witnesses, Abdul Barry, 49, was standing inside the container when chains that suspended the truck above him snapped, and the vehicle crashed down on him. Barry moved to the US in 2005, working seven days a week selling T-shirts and socks in Harlem to send money back to his family. Even more sadly, he just had a child who he had never seen: "His wife just had a baby - his second daughter - one month ago...He's never seen his second child. Now he'll never see her." said his cousin, Issie Barrie.
Blizzard Blamed For Two More Deaths
The Boxing Day Blizzard of 2010 can add two more lives to its list of victims: An unidentified 66-year-old man died after being found nearly frozen to death on an unidentified subway platform the Monday after the storm, and a three-month-old infant—who was left brain dead when EMS couldn't get to his door in time because of snow drifts two days after the storm—succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Authorities would not release any information regarding the dead man other than his age. We sincerely hope these are the storm's last casualties.
Snow Delays Leave Baby Brain Dead
Its unsurprising, considering the many still-unplowed streets, but still very sad to learn that EMS response times are still being hindered by the snow. For example: yesterday a three-month-old baby was left brain dead when rescuers were unable to arrive as promptly as normal, and then had to carry the child in by hand when their ambulance got stuck 30 yards from a hospital.
Tragic Tales Of Too-Late Emergency Responses
As the scope of the Boxing Day blizzard became apparent and word of the 911 backlog started to spread— it hit 1,300 at its peak— we knew there would be casualties. But that doesn't make it ok. As you read the stories of babies dying in lobbies hours after help was called and elderly mothers dying because it was impossible to reach 911 it is hard not to become furious that the city—which likes to boast about its large-scale tabletop simulations—did not have a better plan to keep emergency vehicles moving swiftly.
Teacher Miscarries After Trying To Break Up Student Fight
A fight between students at a Bronx high school led to a horrible incident for one young teacher yesterday. A pregnant teacher at the Explorations Academy in Claremont tried to break up a fight between two students, was kicked in the stomach by one of the students (it's unclear if it was an accident or not) and later miscarried.
Queens Man Dies Trying To Retrieve Cellphone From Fire
