Tracy McGrady Says LeBron Isn't Big Apple-Bound

Those dreams of LeBron leading the Knicks to their first championship since 1973 and then chomping down on some Shake Shack in celebration may slowly be coming to an end. During a press conference after yesterday's win against the Clippers, Tracy McGrady said of a possible LeBron move, "To me, in my honest opinion, I don't see it happening...It's set for him right now." more ›

Last Night's Action: A Win By The Knicks!

Last Night's Action: A Win By The Knicks!

In some ways they saved the worst for last, but the Knicks still managed to squeak out a 118-116 win over Washington in overtime Friday. David Lee’s layup with 1.6 seconds left put an end to New York’s eight-game losing streak. Curiously, Tracy McGrady had 23 points, but he was pulled late in the third quarter and didn’t return to the game. Al Harrington added 37 points off the bench and two key free throws in OT. more ›

Knicks Dealing at NBA Trade Deadline

Knicks Dealing at NBA Trade Deadline

The Knicks made a number of deals before the NBA trade deadline today, but none of them are about this season. Despite what Donnie Walsh may claim, the trade that brought the Knicks Tracy McGrady is not going to help the Knicks to get into the playoffs this year. The trade is all about clearing more cap space by deleting the contract of Jared Jeffries from next year’s payroll. With Jeffries’ salary off the books, the Knicks have a legitimate shot at landing two top-tier free agents in July. more ›

Knicks To Trade Nate, Darko and Close to Acquiring McGrady

Knicks To Trade Nate, Darko and Close to Acquiring McGrady

The Knicks have agreed in principal to trade three-time slam dunk champion Nate Robinson to the Boston Celtics for backup guard Eddie House, who previously played for Coach Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix. Robinson was an at times electric and mostly well-liked player with the New York fans, but had been butting heads with Coach D'Antoni all season, resulting in a prolonged banishment on the Knicks bench for much of December. more ›

Last Night's Action: No Surprises as Knicks Lose Again

Last Night's Action: No Surprises as Knicks Lose Again

- Rockets 97, Knicks 90: The state of the Knicks is so sad that their former coach has more wins at Madson Square Garden with his new team than the Knicks' current head coach does. Jeff Van Gundy is 7-1 against the Knicks with four consecutive wins at MSG and Isiah Thomas is 1-5 at home. Yao Ming led all scorers with 26 points and Tracy McGrady added 24. Jamal Crawford led the Knicks with 25 points off the bench while Stephon Marbury had a measly three points in less than 20 minutes of play. In unbelievable news, Nate Robinson (5'9") blocked one of Yao's (7'6") shots. Despite pulling out all the stops for the Chinese basketball fans in the area (BD Wong sang the National Anthem), The Garden was not full. more ›

Maybe They Meant To Pick Rolando Blackman?

Maybe They Meant To Pick Rolando Blackman?

The one positive you could say about Isiah was that he was always pretty good in the draft. Whether it was Channing Frye, Marcus Camby or Tracy McGrady, Isiah seemed to do pretty well in the draft. Apparently he now wants to ruin the last positive part of his reputation because how else can you explain drafting Renaldo Balkman with the 20th pick? more ›

Team USA Plays On Despite Bombings

Team USA Plays On Despite Bombings

Hmmmm…perhaps Tracy McGrady and Jermaine O’Neal were on to something when they cited “security issues” as a reason for not representing their country at the Olympics. Team USA played their final warm up exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey yesterday just hours after two bombs exploded in tourist hotels miles from where the team was staying. Two people were killed and 11 more were injured. more ›

On Down, One To Go

On Down, One To Go

The NBA's Expansion Draft was held last night, so now Charlotte Bobcats have the beginnings of a roster. They chose a total of 19 players, but most of them will not be with the team on opening night next year. The Bobcats chose nine restricted free agents, which automatically turned them into unrestricted free agents, allowing those nine players to negotiate a new contract with any team in the league except for the team that left them unprotected in the draft. Got that? Click here for the rest of the expansion draft rules. more ›

Team USA Already In Turmoil

Team USA Already In Turmoil

More and more the USA Basketball committee that is selecting the 12 players for this summer’s Olympic basketball squad are hearing "I’m out", especially since the recent bombings in Athens. All this makes Gothamist wonder, who's in? Players that have turned down bids to play for Team USA include Seattle’s Ray Allen (fiancé giving birth this summer), Jersey’s Jason Kidd (nagging injuries), Toronto’s Vince Carter (getting married this summer), Minnesoata’s Kevin Garnett (fatigue from prolonged playoff run), and a trio of Lakers which include Karl Malone (needs time to recover from injury filled season), Kobe Bryant (pesky pending rape trial) and Shaquile O’Neal (doesn’t really want to go). Although he has not declined his invite yet, sources say Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal is considering pulling out because of safety concerns in Athens. more ›
