Tony Snow, the journalist who served as the third White House Press Secretary in 2006-2007, died early this morning. The 53-year-old had been battling colon cancer. Snow had been a newspaper columnist, a speechwriter for the first President Bush and an anchor Fox News Sunday, and in spite of criticizing George W. Bush in a column, he was asked to replace press secretary Scott McClellan. President and Mrs. Bush issued a statement, "It was a joy to watch Tony at the podium each day. He brought wit, grace, and a great love of country to his work. His colleagues will cherish memories of his energetic personality and relentless good humor," and noted "his brave struggle against cancer."

  • Stephen Colbert (busy taking over the world) adds one more notch on the "celebrities are clumsy, too" bedpost. Before filming a recent episode the faux-news anchor broke his left wrist while running around the studio of The Colbert Report to pump up the audience before taping. He really does hate the left!

Ceasar Borja Jr., the 21 year old son of a cop who volunteered at Ground Zero and died last week, met with President Bush yesterday to discuss funding for September 11's first responders. With Bush in town for a State of Economy address - and having just announced $25 million in additional funding for WTC-related illness - the President had a 15-private meeting with Borja, his mother, brother and sister. Borja wrote about the experience for the Daily News:

He said, "You're all right, Ceasar," and he shook my hand.
