Tommy Hilfiger Hotels To Start With The MetLife Clock Tower

Tommy Hilfiger no longer owns his eponymous clothing brand—though he still is the principal designer—so now he's spreading out into non-clothing directions. First up? A hotel in the MetLife Clock Tower off Madison Square. Hilfiger and his partners are thisclose to buying the building at the foot of Madison Avenue—at 700" feet it was the tallest building in the world from 1909-1913—for $170 million dollars. more ›

Just What We Needed: A Fake Hamptons House In The Meatpacking District

Were you dying to buy some preppy clothes in an equally preppy cottage? And is the Polo Mansion just too uptown for you? Well, Tommy Hilfiger just opened up an 800-square-foot pop-up shop in the Meatpacking District. Hilfiger told the NY Times, "The preppy lifestyle has gone global. We feel that our business has grown so well because preppy travels so well. It’s all-American classic." more ›

The Strokes: Fashionably Late For Their Own Comeback

Last night The Strokes (remember them?) played their hometown of New York City for the first time in four years... but you weren't invited. Amongst the people who were invited were Christina Hendricks, Jennifer Lopez, and the cast of Gossip Girl. The A-list attendees got to hear eight songs by the band, who were playing at Tommy Hilfiger's 25th anniversary bash at the Metropolitan Opera house. An excited Neil Patrick Harris was also there, and tweeted, "After party at the frigging metropolitan opera! Watching the Strokes perform. In the lobby! Unreal.” more ›

Ashley Dupre Not Good Enough For Tommy Hilfiger

Ashley Dupre's new BFF and mentor may be Russell Simmons (hey, "don't call me a whore, you whores" rant and single were posted on Simmons' website), but Tommy Hilfiger totally outranks the Love Gov hooker in Simmons' book. Page Six reports, "After Hilfiger told [Rusell] Ashley Dupre was unwelcome at Tommy's Fashion Week party at the Jane Hotel, Simmons disinvited Eliot Spitzer's call girl"—the designer's rep explained, "Tommy didn't feel her presence would be appropriate." more ›

Hilfiger, Please!

Hilfiger, Please!

Of all the possible "celebrities" you'd expect to get in a fight, Axl Rose would probably be on the list. But designer of preppy clothing that rapper somehow took a liking to, Tommy Hilfiger? At Rosario Dawson's birthday party at Plumm (VIP Room, natch) last night, apparently Axl Rose moved Hilfiger's girlfriend's drink down the table. And maybe she was jostled by Rose. A witness tells the Daily News, "Tommy put his hand out, Axl grabbed Tommy's arm and pushed it hard, and Tommy came back with a fist." Then, pow pow! Hilfiger punched Rose in the cheek, and then security came over to separate them - the Post says people starting running from room and trampled Kid Rock! Hilfiger was thrown out of Plumm, while Rose stayed to perform, dedicating "You're Crazy" to Hilfiger. more ›

Why the Rich Are Different

Why the Rich Are Different

So, there's a Page Six item that involves the usual Page Six details: A rich New Yorker (a celebrity dentist with patients "Donald Trump, Sumner Redstone, Harvey Weinstein, Bruce Springsteen, Kathie Lee Gifford, Christie Brinkley, Chloe Sevigny, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Bridget Hall") who has a house in the Hamptons. But then you find out that the rich dentist made his own son sue him for damages about he and his son took a spill on a Vespa. Dr. Larry Rosenthal's son managed to get $85,000 from his dad's insurance company. Apparently the money went to tending to the son's medical bills and the rest went into a trust, but Rosenthal, who had a "punctured lung, broken ribs and other injuries after being dragged by a car that hit him as he lay on the road" didn't sue anyone. Our crazy legal system! more ›
