According to WABC 7, the police are looking for a gunman who shot a store owner on Broadway, near West 71st Street, in Manhattan. The police say that around 4:30 p.m. the gunman walked into Alex's Tobacco store (which also sells lottery tickets) and "started shooting." MyFoxNY reports that it may have been a robbery attempt; plus, "Police found an SUV near the scene of the shooting that they believe may have belonged to the shooter and an accomplice." The suspect is still at large; the store owner, who was shot in the hip, is in stable condition at a hospital. The busy 1/2/3 subway station at West 72nd Street is right by the store; a reader who walked by the scene at 5 p.m. said, "I saw all of these cops, NYPD cars, yellow tape blockades on the street, and helicopters hovering above the crime scene. People were crowded around while a cop said he didn't know exactly what had happened."
