A Long Island man was arrested by police yesterday and charged with drunk driving with his two-year-old son in the car. Christopher Weiss, 29, was driving his Ford Focus westbound along route 25 in Suffolk County when another driver called 911 to complain he was driving erratically. As we recently noted, current stats from the 114th Precinct show that robbery is up 10% from last year, burglary is up 7% and grand larceny auto is up 18.9%. Sightings of cars on cement blocks have become more frequent, and now it looks like things are getting really bad over in Astoria. A local blogger just spotted this car stripped of its tires and propped up by a plastic milk crate! The scenario was spotted just a few feet away from Peter F. This shaky surveillance video shows an unidentified man brazenly slashing the tires of three NYPD Parking Enforcement cars in broad daylight on Monday in Parkchester. (It was either very windy out, or the surveillance cam was afraid it would be slashed next, because it can't stop trembling!) The cars were parked outside a Bronx parking enforcement headquarters near the Westchester Square shopping district, were merchants say parking ticket blitzes are driving away their shoppers. more ›
