Gothamist is growing like a gummy bear in water- so we've got some announcements to make. First, we'd like your help beta-testing a couple of new Gothamist sections. Gothamist Weather will be written by Leslie Campisi, Carrie Himelfarb, and their crack team of metro meteorologists, and will feature daily weather information, weather gossip, weather fashion, and maybe even a little bit of weather porn. Ask Gothamist will be written by Doug Gordon and Erin O'Brien, and will offer all the unsolicited advice you so desperately do not crave from Gothamist. You know, where to find the best burger, what to do if your boyfriend is too metrosexual, how to get home when the F-train goes out of service. Both pages will be in beta for the next week, and barring any major disasters, should go live the following Monday. Special thanks to Neil Epstein for coding both blogs.

Today we are launching the beta version of The Gothamist Forum, a bulletin board for the site. If the forum catches on, it will become a permanent feature of the site- until then, you can find a link to it in the center column, right under the interview box. Register for the forum today! What should the forum be used for? Posting comments unrelated to the main posts on Gothamist or the Gothamist Interview, and posting stories or announcements or events. If you feel like being a moderator on the board, or being one of the anchor posters on the board, please email Jake and he'll get you set up right.
Jake even made Neighborhoodie of the Day yesterday. Aw.
• Gothamist has exceeded its goal of raising $800 to sponsor a Little League team, so many, many thanks to all contributors; the additional money will be donated to the West Side Little League for new baseball fields (per their registration form, PDF). We're in discussions with the league, so we'll keep you posted.
Did anyone else notice that the feel-good, environment-loving, Gothamist T-shirt supplying American Apparel company has opened two retail shops in New York? One is on 6th Avenue and the other is on Broadway- both in the village. If it was up to Gothamist, all of our clothes would be produced by American Apparel. There are three things we love about their gear: it is not made in sweatshops, it doesn't have obnoxious labels or designs (today we saw a girl wearing an "Anwhere but Pianos" T-shirt again... without a trace of irony!), and the cotton is soft and thin. If there is one thing that Gothamist hates, it's bulky cotton. Apparently, many other NYC designers agree, because in addition to supplying Tiny Factory, AA supplies Neighborhoodies and a bunch of other shops. Our favorite American Apparel designs? The melange M434 T-shirt (we're releasing new versions of the Gothamist T-shirt this week!) and the 4451 Baby Rib. And bajesus- has anyone noticed that American Apparel likes the busty models on its website? We have! Here and here and here and here and here.
Here at Gothamist, your satisfaction is important to us. Maybe not as important as finding new BBQ restaurants, panda porn, or slutty socialite pictures, but important. With that in mind, we wanted to let you know about some new stuff that we're doing on the site, and get your feedback.
- Segway recall! Techies weep!
Excellent news: The Gothamist T-shirt will be on sale from Tiny Factory, whose site is finally up. The shirts are heathered red with maroon trim (around the neck for the men's version; around the neck and arms for the women's), with a handscreened Gothamist logo on the chest. The shirt, made of 100% cotton from American Apparel, is $20 including shipping and handling.
- And, yes, it's true, we're looking for advertisers AND having another happy hour.
The lesbian microscene goes under Amy Sohn's microscope. She looks at the ups and downs of lesbian dating, namely how it's incredibly insular and everyone knows your business. And most potentially troubling is that exes might date each other - "a problem straight people never have to worry about." Yeah, but gay guys do. And straight people who are in their own microscenes have to deal with stuff like getting asked out by an old fling's best friend/bandmate or realizing you and a friend have dated the same metrosexual - who took you to the same bar for the first date. No matter how you cut it, microscenes need to go macro at some point.
