Welcome to the dumb fan hall of fame, Frank Martinez! Martinez was arrested on Friday after he shined a high-powered flashlight onto Shea Stadium's field during the Mets-Braves game. Martinez used a Streamline flashlight to bother Braves pitcher Tim Hudson and shortstop Edgar Renteria, and second base umpire Paul Emmel had to call a timeout because he was "visually impaired."

So far in this young baseball season, Tom Glavine has his stuff working. Unfortunately for him and the Mets, he faced Tim Hudson in yesterday's 2-1 loss to the Braves. Hudson was magnificent yesterday, throwing a perfect game into the 6th inning until Ramon Castro broke it with a single. Castro later threatened to score on a fly ball to left, but lead footed as he is, he was thrown out at home with a perfect throw from Braves left fielder Matt Diaz.

Clearly, you can't win them all. For the Mets, that's always the case when Victor Zambrano pitches. Last night, with Zambrano on the mound, the Mets lost to the Braves, 7-1. Zambrano, who won his last game, allowed seven runs and hits, including three home runs over his short five inning outing. Kyle Davies stymied the Mets, allowing only one run and three hits in his first career complete game. The one run was the lowest run total for the Mets all season. The lone Mets run came on a Chris Woodward homer in the 3rd.

Getting four runs off Mulder is like getting a date with Carmen Electra, it just doesn't happen that often. The Yankees pitching continues to be a problem. The offense has been consistent all year, but the pitching is another story. The Yankees are not worried about losing a few games in the regular season to the Oakland A's, but the signs are there for a mediocre off-season, due to the poor pitching. In the playoffs you win games 3-2 or 2-1, not 10-9. That is what concerns the Yankee fan, what is going to happen in October when we match up aagainst three top notch pitchers.

After the game, Kidd said, "With all the talk throughout the year that they were going to catch us, that they were a better team, they wanted to play us in the playoffs; like I said, sometimes it's fools gold. Sometimes you wish for something that you wanted but in reality you don't want it. They got what they needed." The Nets will play the winner of the Milwaukee-Detroit as the Knicks go home to watch the rest of the playoffs on TV. Perhaps they will go home and talk about how they were robbed and how they were actually the better team and will wage-war against the Nets next year.
