Band of Horses at the Pool, Another Great Show It’s getting a bit repetitive. Every week it seems like we rave and rave about how impressive the Pool Party was. This week brought Band of Horses back to New York for a big free happy show, alongside last year's premiere blog buzz band, Annuals. While there were few complaints about last Sunday, Jelly's got themselves quite the tall order coming up this week. TV on......

White Stripes Shred Irving It seems that every time The White Stripes fade away for a year or two, people seem to forget exactly how amazing they can be live. Perhaps it takes a show like the one at Irving Plaza last Tuesday...filled with hardcore, line-waiting fans and eager and excited members of the media to really drive home just how good a show Jack White puts on, and exactly how impressive Meg is to......

Today in New York anchorman, Rob Morrison, has gone and turned in to a music blogger overnight. In one of his latest posts he declares that Wolfmother does in fact rock. "Attention brothers and sisters of Rock. If you, like me, feel as if you are drowning in a sea of sensitivity; awash in the moody minor-chords of bands like Coldplay, The Fray and that guy who jumped off a cliff because he saw a......

Yesterday Rolling Stone let everyone (well, anyone that still reads Rolling Stone) know the The Raconteurs would be playing a show at the Soho Prada Store last night. Ah, fashion rocks, indeed. So it actually happened, as evidenced by the photo above...did anyone go check it out? Was the audience any more receptive to the band than when they were the house band at the VMA's? One girl confused them with The White Stripes,......

When we first heard The White Stripes a few years back, we pictured them on the big stage. We imagined them playing packed arenas on a huge rig with lights and props and pyrotechnics. No matter how hard they seem to try, this is not music made for blues clubs and dive bars. These are epic guitar anthems that have always deserved the audience that they are only now getting to play for. It was......

In the Times today, writer and music lover Nick Hornby tackles listening to music as you grow older in the Op/Ed section. He mentions Jon Landau's 1974 music review of Bruce Springsteen, "Growing Young with Rock and Roll," which famously had the line, "I saw rock 'n' roll future and its name is Bruce Springsteen," but starts with "It's four in the morning and raining. I'm 27 today, feeling old, listening to my records, and......

The new video for The White Stripes, The Hardest Button to Button is directed by Michel Gondry, who Lego-ized them in Fell in Love with a Girl, complete with cameo by Beck. The video was filmed in New York at Harlem and Riverside Park (near Grant's Tomb) and they also used a PATH train. The spot shows Jack, Meg, and endless amps and drums all over the locations. And while Jack White looks spookily......

The White Stripes are going to be on Conan for a "residency" - playing one new song on each of the four days they are residing there. Kudos to the White Stripes' label and publicity. They should be so lucky as to get to hang out with Conan for four days.......
