More security is coming to the buses! The Daily News is reporting that hundreds of Manhattan buses are going to be decked out with lots o' new security cameras:

Each bus will be equipped with a handful of digital cameras, according to a transit official who described the safeguards as the agency's biggest push into electronic surveillance on buses to date. The TA hopes to purchase the cameras later this year.

An odd subway accident occured over the weekend: A man lost his foot when an N train hit him on Sunday morning, around 1:55AM. The transit authority said, "The operator saw what he thought was debris until it moved. He applied the brakes but it was too late." And ouch. The TA isn't sure how the man got there; since it was so late, we imagine that there may not have been many people to see someone fall. We wonder if the MTA would be able to put sensors in the tracks, so in case things of a certain weight fall, train conductors and station managers would be alerted. All the more reason to stay away from the platform edge, though at the N/Q/R/W stop at Union Square, some of the walkways next to the stairs are very narrow.
