Another slice of Park Slope life from Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn. Upon leaving a showing of Definitely, Maybe at the Park Slope movie theater, the Pavilion, OTBKB and fellow moviegoers spied a white teenaged girl "sitting on a bench [in the second floor concession area] icing an injury on her face just below her right eye."

Thank goodness for good neighbors! There's a fascinating story behind the arrest of Asuncion DeJesus-Garcia, who is suspected of at least three sexual assaults in the Lower East Side and East Village. It turns out that the two people who noticed him on Wednesday actually recognized him because they helped stop the July 13 attack on East 12th Street!
Score one for the Mayor's Anti-Graffiti Task Force: The NYPD arrested 34 year old Patrick McCormick, tag Map, yesterday. McCormick was on the NYPD's 50 "Worst of the Worst" graffiti vandals list. The thing is, McCormick was arrested after smashing the window of an A train in front of a police officer, who was behind him. It was on Saturday afternoon, near the Beach 98th Street stop in Rockaway. The police suspect that McCormick was trying to destroy a rival's tag, but the head of the transit bureau James Hall said, "He broke the window so we weren't able to determine that for sure."
We're at the home stretch! Sunday was a bit of a quieter day for us, but by no means did the music disappoint. The plan was to make it a short day and get back to civilization that night, but due to some travel miscalculations we ended up sticking around till they kicked us out. Very glad we did.
Both Jay Z's Black Album and Dizzee Rascal's In Da Corner made the Village Voice's Pazz & Jop List.
As a rule, I hate all music recommended to me, but today Rachel gave me a copy of The Streets album, Original Pirate Material. The Streets is made up of only one guy, Mike Skinner, and he's getting a lot of flak for being the British Eminem. Now I don't think that's an insult- I like Eminem for what he is. Skinner's music is a little more on the dance end of things- but his rhyme style is definitely a close cousin of Marshall Mathers. Anyway- it's a good album- like the screenplay to Snatch being sung by Jason Statham doing an impression of Eminem- or something. Additional info: Skinner can't act.
