Even if a good portion of the announced paid attendance wasn't there to see it, the Jets played an entertaining if not successful football game in their 23-20 overtime loss to the Redskins on Sunday. Kellen Clemens showed flashes of brilliance and moments of poise -- including a drive that culminated with the game-tying field goal with 10 seconds left in regulation -- but the Jets defense didn't hold up its end of the bargain....

This is a team that is clearly on the brink. The defense hasn’t shown up in the first two games and now the players are looking for someone to blame. Antonio Pierce picked on a female reporter yesterday by blowing an air horn each time she tried to ask about the defense. He may have been trying to be funny, but coupled with his suggestion that fans write to Giants.com with suggestions to fix the defense it came off as arrogant. The youth movement with the Jets continued yesterday as they named the 36 year-old Mike Tannenbaum as their general manager. With head coach Eric Mangini, 35, the two will form the youngest coach/GM combination in the NFL. The Redskins and Chargers could have 10 year olds as their GMs and still be older than the Jets pair. Tannenbaum, who was the senior vice president for football operations and assistant general manager, takes over for Terry Bradway, who remains with the team as a "consultant for player personnel" as he has two years left on his contract.
