Movable Hype 9.0 at The Spiegeltent
The time has come again, another Movable Hype show is upon us, the 9th to be exact. We've had every show at the Knitting Factory's main space for almost two years, and we'll go back there right away, but for this one we're taking a bit of a field trip. This show will be at The Spiegeltent, the 100 year old travelling wooden tent (complete with a beer garden!) that's been set up on Pier 17 until October.
Cabaret License: This Week's Music Megalist (Late Edition)
The weekly author of this post has fled for Las Vegas leaving us only with a trail of mumbled words. Something about 's latest cd. UPDATE: we have a winner. Seriously, you can stop emailing now.
Coolfer's Music Picks for Both Winners and Losers
Here's the question for the day: Should Gothamist even mention sold out shows? There are a few of them this week. Mentioning sold out shows creates an environment where the "haves" are the winners and the "have nots" are the loser--unless the "have nots" turn in sexual favors with exes who thought ahead and bought two tickets. Is it right to pit the winners against the losers? Is it right to pour salt on the losers' ticketless wounds? Oh, whatever. The world is filled with winners and losers. Why tiptoe around the obvious?
