For his actions in last night's Rangers-Islanders game, Islanders forward Chris Simon was suspended indefinitely today by the NHL. In the 3rd period of the game, a Rangers victory, Simon was checked cleanly into the boards by Hollweg. After recovering, Simon used his stick on Hollweg to retaliate - hitting Hollweg on the chin and knocking the Rangers center to the ice. After the hit, Hollweg laid motionless on the ice. He would later receive stitches and is expected to play tomorrow.

Besides the inspired play of Crawford, the Knicks finally made a lineup change. Jared Jeffries was sent to the bench and Channing Frye got the start. Jeffries only played 15 minutes while Frye played 37 and David Lee 29 coming off the bench. Hopefully, Isiah has finally realized that Frye and Lee deserve the time more than Jeffries.
We’ve watched him all year come up with the big save in the big moment, but nothing was bigger that Henrik Lundqvist’s goaltending on Sunday. Lundqvist made several key stops, the last with 20 seconds left, to preserve Sweden’s 3-2 win over Finland and earn the gold medal. Rangers’ fans can only hope it is a sign of things to come.

It's a classic case of owners vs. union that you see in almost every sport these days. The NHL says its owners lost $223 million with 20 clubs losing money. They want to control the cost of the salaries and lower the average salary to $1.3 million down from $1.8 million. The NHL also says that 75% of their revenue goes towards player salaries. What they would like is a wage formula that is tied to revenue.
The NBA and its players have had an absurd playoff schedule so far this season. It almost seems like they only play Thursday-Sunday and take the rest of the week off. Games are 48 minutes long, plus add on all their commercial breaks, time outs, and fouling in the final two minutes and you have plenty of rest for the players. NBA play, while physical, doesn't tend to result in concussions or many contusions at all.
