Your already very high chances of being able to sip a beer while watching the Nets in Brooklyn just got a little better. After the contentious two-and-a-half hour joint Community Boards 2 and 6 meeting on Tuesday night, the full Community Board 2 met last night and, according to The Local, approved the plan 33-0. With some stipulations, of course.

Locals Fear Nets Arena Liquor License Will Cause "More Dead Cyclists And Pedestrians"
Last night Community Boards 2 and 6 in Brooklyn held a joint meeting to discuss the liquor license for the Barclays Center over the Atlantic Yards. And, as with everything regarding the future home of the Nets, it was a long slog. The meeting took two-and-a-half hours and ended with little resolution—despite the fact that nobody seriously thinks the State Liquor Authority is going to reject the application.
Locals Fight Barclays Center Liquor License, Fearing Puking, Peeing Nets Fans
Residents of the neighborhood surrounding the Barclays Center plan to fight the arena's liquor license application at a special Community Board meeting tomorrow night, where Barclays reps will appear to answer questions about their application. Thus far the arena has not provided any details about how they'll handle crowd control outside the venue, which will unleash thousands of inebriated Nets fans upon Prospect Heights, Park Slope, and Downtown Brooklyn.
Jay-Z Will Christen The Brooklyn Nets' Barclays Center With Concerts
When the New Jersey Nets make their move to Brooklyn they will, assuming the NBA has another season, be changing their name. But to what? All signs point to The Brooklyn Nets. So if you were hoping to root for the Brooklyn New Yorkers, tough luck. On the plus side, the rumors appear to be true: when the new Barclays Center opens its bland interior to the public next year it will kick things off with a series of Jay-Z concerts. And, according to sources, a post-baby Beyonce is expected to perform at at least one of his shows.
As Predicted, Atlantic Yards Could Just Be Stadium, Parking
After all of that fighting, the never ending Atlantic Yards project could now end up just being a nondescript stadium and acres of parking. The project's developer, Forest City Ratner, filed documents with the SEC last week that warn of "further delays" to the non-stadium portions of the project that could lead to the scrapping of most or all of the rest of the 22-acre, $4.9 billion project. But hey, at least the city got rid of all that urban blight!

Last Night's Action: Finally A Win!
Trent Hunter got things going with a goal at 17:42 of the first. The Flyers tied it up in the second, but the Islanders took the lead and built it on two beautiful goals. Jeff Tambellini took advantage of a bad Philadelphia turnover to put the Isles back in front. Sean Bergenheim got a semi-breakaway off of a feed from Trent Hunter to make it 3-1. Philadelphia cut it to 3-2, but Rusian Fedotenko put the game out of reach with his 10th goal of the year.

No Kidding: Nets, Guard Near End of Road
Jason Kidd trade rumors are hardly new, but this time, they're probably for real. Nets President Rod Thorn and the guard have made no secret of the seemingly obvious incentives for both parties to want a deal before the Feb. 21 NBA trading deadline. Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter, the younger parts of the Big Three, have expensive contracts.

You may not have realized it, but some of the other local teams had games Sunday and some of them were pretty important.

Last Night's Action: Thomas Gets Tossed
Ming finished with 36 points as the Knicks once again showed their indifference to the defensive end of the floor. Both Curry and Randolph were in the starting lineup, which doesn’t help matters. The next five games are against Toronto, Detroit, Washington, New Jersey and Washington so 9-30 is a definite possibility.

Last Night's Action: No Offense In New Jersey
Clippers 91 Nets 82: The Nets simply couldn’t shoot Tuesday night, finishing a dismal 32% from the field in an ugly loss to the Clippers at the Izod Center. Jason Kidd managed a triple-double and Richard Jefferson had 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop LA. Chris Kaman and Tim Thomas each had 18 points while Dan “the Knicks cut me this offseason” Dickau added 11 points off the bench. Carl Pavano isn’t sure...
Last Night's Action: That's King Richard to You
Nets 100, Cavaliers 79: With Cleveland's triple-double machine LeBron James on the bench, the Nets' Richard Jefferson played king for a day. Only he's been doing this all season long. Tuesday's totals: 36 points, 11-of-18 shooting, 13-of-15 from the line. Lines don't get much better than that. The Nets don't want to get too cocky, however. Shannon Brown led the way for the short-handed Cavaliers. When someone who average five points stepped up with 20,...
Last Night's Action: Second-Half Wakeup Call
Grizzlies 110, Nets 103: For whatever reason, the Nets don't do well at home after long road trips. Tuesday's loss was the fourth straight in the first game following a trip of three or more games. Everyone knows the Izod Center isn't the best home court, but the Nets need to do better than 3-6 at home. If the Nets played the entire game like they performed in the second half, they wouldn't be hanging...
Last Night's Action: Only the Score Counts
Stars 3, Rangers 2: What good is outshooting the opponent 41-18 if it doesn't lead to a win? That's what the Rangers have to ask themselves after Sunday's disappointing loss to the Stars. No matter how this game is measured -- except for the score that is -- the Rangers appeared to outplay the Stars. Mike Smith repeatedly stifled the Blueshirts' attack, however, and goals from Jaromir Jagr and Brendan Shanahan didn't end up as...
Last Night's Action: Isles Keep Upper Hand
Islanders 2, Rangers 1: For all the success the Rangers have had against the rest of the league, they still can't solve the Islanders. Five-game winning streak? Poof! Rick DiPietro made 18 saves and the Islanders won for the third time in three games between the two clubs. Ruslan Fedotenko and Josef Vasicek each scored in the second period, and Michal Rozsival scored a short-handed goal for the Rangers. He now has seven goals...
Last Night's Action: Settling It on the Court
Knicks 119, Nuggets 112: Isiah Thomas had his Knicks go toe-to-toe with the high-flying Nuggets, and they came out on top despite trailing by 15. Don't look now, but Thomas may have made a smart move in acquiring Zach Randolph. Eddy Curry is still overweight and Renaldo Balkman was still taken too early, but the Knicks put on quite a show for the Garden fans. And it didn't involve the fisticuffs of last season's...

Last Night's Action: A Sweep Caps A Busy Night
Five minutes into the third period, Matt Cullen unleashed a vicious slapshot that caromed off the top crossbar and appeared to bounce out of the crease. Replays showed the puck had bounced down into the goal and the Garden erupted when the tally was put on the scoreboard.
Last Night's Action: Another A-Bomb From A-Rod

- Yankees 10 Twins 1: Apparently, Alex Rodriguez should have come clean about his relationship with Derek Jeter years ago. Unburdened by no longer living a lie, Rodriguez has opened the season as well as anyone ever has, belting his sixth homer in seven games Tuesday night as part of a 10-run barrage by the Yankees’ offense.

Last Night's Action: Two Big Points
The win leaves the Rangers in the seventh spot with four games left. Their margin for error remains razor-thin with two points separating them from the ninth-place team, Toronto, who visit MSG tonight.
