Last night, Kermit and Robin (Kermit's nephew) showed up to sing "When The River Meets The Sea," a sweet little tune from the John Denver/The Muppets '70s album, with Fallon and The Roots. The Muppets Are NOT Communists, Says Possibly Communist Director
Last week, some Fox News anchors mustered up the courage to stop standing idly by as The Muppets brainwashed children with their anti-Capitalist agenda. The new film's director, James Bobin, finally answered nagging questions around the movie's purported liberal bias, and refused to acknowledge the well-known fact that Fozzy Bear was always meant to be a stand-in for Trotsky. "It's a very strange turn of events to hear a question like that. Cable news is 24 hours long so you have to fill it up with something. No, the Muppets are not communist," Bobin told The Hollywood Reporter. But isn't that EXACTLY what a communist would say?

Oh, Fox Business News, never change. In one of those 'if it weren't real we would think it were an Onion story' moments, Fox Business show Follow The Money recently had a segment in which they warn that the new Muppets movie is going to "brainwash" our children into socialist plushies. "The Muppets are back and being terrorized by an evil oil executive in their new movie," host Eric Bolling severely intones. "Liberal Hollywood depicting a successful businessman as 'evil,' that’s not new."

The onslaught of media in anticipation of the new Jason Segel-scripted Muppets movie keeps coming and we refuse to complain about it. Not when the fake trailers they're producing just keep getting better and better. To wit: "The Pig With The Froggy Tattoo Teaser Trailer" which just hit the YouTubes. We've been looking forward to the Jason Segel-scripted reboot of the Muppets for a few years now (the poster even got us giddy) so you'll understand when you watch the just-released trailer for the Thanksgiving flick why we freaked out for the first :50-odd seconds—where are the Muppets we were promised? Why are we watching a preview for an Amy Adams rom-com called Green With Envy? And then it all made sense:
First Poster For The Muppets Movie Shows Feet, Fans Creeped Out
The Jason Segel-scripted Muppets movie is headed to the big screen, due out this fall, and the first poster has now popped up. What does it tell us? Cinema Blend notes, "Here’s what you should notice. Feet. The Muppets have feet. One thing about Muppets, you can’t really show their feet very often, because if you do you’ll see the Muppeteer... So as a Muppet fan what this poster tells me is that, maybe, showing Muppet feet isn’t going to be such a special thing anymore. I suppose it’s about time Muppet technology took a step forward, and if there’s a next step it probably involves far more Muppet wide shots than we’re used to."
Jason Segel Close to Reviving Muppets Franchise
Actor and bromanticizer Jason Segel might seem like an unlikely candidate to bring the Muppets back to their glory days, but he's been working hard at doing it for some time now. Paste magazine catches up with the actor about getting his Muppets movie off the ground, and he told them, "The script is done. Disney has it and we’re just waiting to hear how they want to proceed. It’s a big decision for them to relaunch a franchise." If all goes smoothly, he promises to bring the crew back to their Great Muppet Caper roots, explaining, "The Muppets have taken a strange turn with these parody movies like The Muppets Do Dickens and all this stuff...so my pitch to Disney was to reintroduce the Muppets, [make] a movie that is a real throwback to those early movies." Segel has already shared screen time with Henson puppeteer's custom-made creatures during Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and last week he was heckled on Jimmy Fallon by Statler and Waldorf.
