11:27PM: We're enjoying the postgame coverage of the Giants' victory, with sad Tom Brady, really excited Michael Strahan (singing Eli's praises), Peyton Manning being thrilled with his brother's success (aw!) and thoughts from the 1972 Dolpins, secure with their undefeated record for another year (but the Patriots still won more games in a row!). While we've been inside, there are a number of large crowds celebrating the Giants' win all over the city - the police have been called to break some of them up!

After two weeks of hype, Super Bowl XLII is finally around the corner. The Giants have reached the ultimate game with a chance to prevent history by ruining the Patriots' quest for a perfect 19-0 season.

The Giants are going to the Super Bowl! Thanks to a 47-yard field goal in overtime New York defeated Green Bay on the infamous “frozen tundra” 23-20 to advance to Super Bowl XLII.

The Giants won the NFC Championship in overtime, beating the Green Bay Packers 23-20 in overtime and overcome the frigid, below-zero conditions. They are now headed to the Super Bowl where they will meet the New England Patriots, who beat the San Diego Chargers 21-12.

Less than 6 hours until kickoff at Lambeau Field and it's a balmy -6° in Green Bay. With winds at 15 miles per hour, Accuweather's real feel temperatures are -18°. While temperatures will increase by game time, it's still going to be ass-cold.

After news that a Green Bay Fox affiliate would not be showing Seinfeld because it's Giants quarterback Eli Manning's favorite show (the Giants are heading to the land of Cheeseheads to play the Packers in the NFC Championship), it was up to Jerry Seinfeld to rise to the occasion. The Mets fan told the Post, "I'm going to send Eli a complete collection of 'Seinfeld' DVDs and a partial collection of 'Hogan's Heroes' for inspiration!" We think Eli's gonna have to ask Archie about Hogan's Heroes.

The Giants were battered and bruised, but they refused to break and came away with a shocking 21-17 upset of the Cowboys in Dallas Sunday.

This week we'll find out if last Saturday's game against the Patriots was worth it. If you recall, Tom Coughlin decided not to rest his starters during the loss to the Pats and a couple of players were injured. Based on the latest information, it sounds like Sam Madison is out, while Kawika Mitchell and Shaun O’Hara are questionable at best, so the Giants will have to hope that some of their bench players can step up and fill those holes. In addition, New York faces Jeff “Giant Killer” Garcia, who is 4-1 in his career against the Giants and 2-0 in the playoffs.

If there is such a thing as a good loss the Giants earned it when they lost 38-35 to the Patriots last night. History will remember the Patriots 16-0 mark, but unfortunately it will forget that in a meaningless game on a Saturday night they faced their toughest challenge.

The Giants won on Sunday in spite of many things. They won in spite of terrible weather. They won in spite of Eli Manning and they won in spite of their coach. What other conclusions can you reach after watching yesterday’s game?

The Giants may have a case of déjà vu heading into Sunday’s game. Once again a win means they are in the playoffs and once again they are face the prospect of adverse weather conditions.

You can’t blame Giants fans for fearing the worst. After watching their team blow numerous chances to put Philadelphia away, including an awful turnover late in the fourth quarter, the thought that David Akers would make a 57-yard field goal was not a stretch. It’s pretty simple for the Giants this week. Win and the 6-2 start is validated in the eyes of the critics. The Giants escaped London with an ugly 13-10 win on an ugly day on an ugly field. The Wembley Stadium turf was not made to handle our brand of football in the rain and it rapidly turned into mud, leaving the players struggling for footing and resulting in sloppy play on both sides of the ball.

The Giants are fortunate that Sunday’s game will be played in London. Fortunate because the venue should help them avoid taking the week off against a team that has nothing going for it. The Dolphins are winless and last week lost their best offensive player, Ronnie Brown, for the season. Brown’s injury came two weeks after the Dolphins lost their starting quarterback for the year and to make matters worse, one of their top defensive players, Zach Thomas, was hurt in a car crash and will miss this week’s game.

It all sounds so simple. With upcoming games against the 49ers and Dolphins the Giants should chalk up two easy wins and head into their bye week at 6-2. It sounds good and while the 49ers don’t look very impressive at first glance, there are some things that should worry the Giants.

The Giants are heading south to play Atlanta this evening and the Falcons won't have their star quarterback, after Michael Vick was caught running a dogfighting ring out of his Virginia home. It turns out that New York City might be the nation's dogfighting capital though. The New York Post reported yesterday that Bronx resident Ralph Reyes runs an unlicensed kennel out of the basement of a residential walk-up building on Valentine Ave. That's where he allegedly breeds and supplies American Pit Bull Terriers for fights to the death.

It was a tale of two halves at the Meadowlands on Sunday. In the first half, the Giants did everything they could to hand a game to the Jets, in the second half, they woke up and took control of the game.

It’s hard to believe that both of these teams were in the playoffs last year. Entering Sunday’s edition of this strange rivalry the Jets and the Giants are a combined 3-5 and have given up a combined 203 points on defense.

This was the Eli Manning we have been waiting for. With Brandon Jacobs hurt and the Giants down 17-6, Eli took his team onto his shoulders and proved that he can play quarterback at an elite level. The only problem is that he couldn’t play defense.

The Giants enter 2007 with more questions than answers. The biggest one is how are they going to replace the 2,100 yards of offense generated by Tiki Barber last season? They don’t get any easier after that though. Will Michael Strahan play well after missing all of training camp? Can David Diehl play left tackle? Is Eli ready to take the next step? Is the secondary any better? Has Tom Coughlin really changed?

The Giants ended the draft with some solid picks, but some surprising news. The team is moving defensive end Mathias “finish your tackle” Kiwanuka to outside linebacker. It’s an interesting decision, because despite one highly publicized mistake, Kiwanuka had a great year at DE. But, the Giants need linebackers and they only drafted one, so necessity forces their hand.

The Jets and the Giants took very different approaches to the draft on Saturday, but when the day was over, both had primarily upgraded their defenses. Five of the six selections made by the locals were defensive players and both teams hope they addressed some key needs.

The NFL Draft starts at noon today and the local teams will have to wait a long time to pick. With the Giants at 20 and the Jets at 25, we probably won’t see a local team pick until well after 4pm. The time may benefit both clubs, because each has very distinct needs they need to fill today and tomorrow.
