The charges have been dropped against the two men who were arrested for trying to cash a dead man’s $355 social security check. Back in January, David Daloia and James O'Hare made headlines with their foiled scheme to capitalize on O’Hare’s roommate’s death by pushing his corpse in an office chair up to a Pay-O-Matic check cashing joint in Hell’s Kitchen. They were arrested en route after a detective spotted the visibly deceased third man.

The desperate antics of old-school Hell's Kitchen residents are still making news. James O'Hare and David Daloia were arraigned for forgery, petty larceny and other charges when they tried to cash in O'Hare's roommate's Social Security check - while O'Hare's dead roommate's body was in a chair outside the checking cashing place.

The Writers Guild of America announced earlier this week that its members who work for the network’s television and radio operations at both the national and local level have authorized a strike vote. There must be something about the morning shift at WABC. After just four days on the job as the permanent replacement for Steve Bartelstein, Ken Rosato, overslept and was late for the 5 a.m. edition of Eyewitness News. We think it is pretty safe to assume that he just overslept, since he probably hasn’t adjusted his body clock fully to the new hours, and that he wasn’t spending the night out clubbing like his predecessor. We wonder if he brought bagels to smooth things over.

Gothamist had the chance to sit down with veteran news anchor Rosanna Scotto of Fox 5. Scotto, a Brooklyn native, began her television career with WTBS in Atlanta in 1980 and returned home to work for WABC-TV in 1982. She moved to channel 5 in 1986 as a reporter and weekend anchor, moving up to the weekday anchor chair in 1994. We felt that since the Ten O’clock News on channel 5 will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on Tuesday, that it would be good to speak with someone there who has been there for a little over half that time.

This was an issue even three years ago in Science Daily. If you're now in the mood for pork, try some Daisy May's BBQ for lunch. And we like the Belle & Sebastian song, The Fox in The Snow.

The Family Guy is shown on the Cartoon Network at 11PM and 2AM during Adult Swim. And Gothamist expects this move to make some people wish that DVD sales translated into other shows being resurrected; we definitely wish Twin Peaks was around during the age of the DVD. But if Twin Peaks were brought to networks today, it would have to go to HBO or Showtime.

, rather than what the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (aka the people behing the Emmys) do, which is put The Simpsons in the animated cartoon category.
