Tonight, thousands of New Yorkers will be running in Central Park for Nike's Run Hit Wonder race, 5 miles around the mini loop. The Donnas are the opening act at the starting line (6PM), Fountains of Wayne, DJ Z-Trip, Nina Sky and Chingy are performing along the course, and there's a post-race concert by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (8PM). Now, the concert is only open to registrants, but we've heard that in the past, the course is actually pretty friendly to spectators. You'll probably be able to hear the race from outside the park as well. And the Donnas are playing a free concert tomorrow night at Hudson River Park.

As is usually the case, the local concert schedule around Thanksgiving is a tad thin. Look at it this way: If you go out, you'll have a little extra elbow room. Or, look at it this way: If you go out, you may be seeing bands that are playing to half-empty rooms, and nobody likes to play to half-empty rooms.

CMJ is here. For New Yorkers, you've probably already seen many of these bands. Everybody plays here. But the number of shows and the number of people crammed into the clubs for these shows is greater than normal. Be careful out there.

The Post lets us know where the hot post-MTV Video Music Awards parties are going to be, who is expected to be there, and how to crash. Venues include the Four Seasons (Madonna, Fatboy Slim, Fred Durst), Show (P. Diddy's bash, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce Ed Burns, the Hilton girls), Tao (Avril, Tim Robbins, Rosario Dawson, Tony Hawk), Splashlight Studios (The Donnas, Drew & Fabrizio, Iggy Pop), and we're sure enterprising kids will be photoblogging the festivites. Or check out the celebrity A-, B-, and C-list yourself from the streets that will be closed off (bottom of page).
