Dark Knight Rises Opening Night Tickets Already Sold Out
There are still six more solid months between us and the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, but that's nothing considering the hype started long ago. So naturally, when tickets went on sale for opening night (July 19th at midnight), those coveted IMAX tickets sold out immediately. Which means there's currently a lot of price gouging happening on Craigslist, with single tickets going for around 100 bucks.
Video: The Latest Dark Knight Rises Trailer Shows Gotham City Falling Apart
The final installment to Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy will be delivered next year, when The Dark Knight Rises hits the big screen in July. Until then, the marketing machine moves forward, with the latest trailer being released today (this follows a leaked version last week). This one shows those scenes filmed down by Zuccotti, as well as most of the cast—including the new villain, Bane, who stages a prison break of Arkham Asylum, and tells Batman: “When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die.” It's enough to bring the inner-nerd out of all of us:
The New Dark Knight Rises Trailer Has Leaked
We're all super-stoked about the summer 2012 blockbuster, The Dark Knight Rises—from what we can tell, based on all the filming around NYC this fall, it must be a documentary focusing on the dark underbelly of street closings. This week, everyone's been talking about the six-minute prologue, focusing on new villain Bane, which has been attached certain IMAX screenings—some have said it "will have your jaw drop," while others have complained about Bane's voice. Now, it's been revealed that a new trailer for the film will accompany Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, opening on Friday. But thanks to the internet, you can watch a leaked version of the trailer below!
Where To See The First Six Minutes Of The Dark Knight Rises
If you're like us, then you probably already feel like you've seen at least half of the 2012 summer blockbuster, The Dark Knight Rises. Between the Wall Street battles, the 59th Street Bridge filming, and the Newark Catwoman sightings, we've pieced together that the movie will focus around the dark underbelly of street closings. The final chapter of the acclaimed Christopher Nolan-helmed Batman films is due in theaters next July, but you'll have a chance to see the first six minutes of the film in theaters in just a few weeks!
Commuters Gripe About Dark Knight Rises Traffic Chaos
This weekend, The Dark Knight Rises continued its filmic assault on NYC by taking over the upper span of the 59th Street Bridge. Not everyone was thrilled to have Batman and Bane battling in their backyard though—the filming caused massive traffic jams today. “Right now I don’t want to watch that movie,” one driver complained to CBS. “It’s getting outrageous here in New York. All their filming, all this ridiculous filming and we aren’t getting anything for it,” another driver said.
The Dark Knight Rises Over The 59th Street Bridge This Weekend
Last weekend, thousands of extras spread out near Wall Street to film some epic battle scenes for obscure indie film The Dark Knight Rises. There was gunfire, batwings and appearances from most of the movies' stars—and it seems we're in store for another dose of Batman-ing this weekend. The film will be shooting on the upper level of the span of the 59th Street Bridge until 8 p.m. tonight. It will also be closed for filming tomorrow as well, between 1 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Even In Gotham City, "If You See Something, Say Something"
Haven't had your fill of movie magic with all of the Dark Knight Rises photos leaking all over your Internet? The latest photo from filming shows that even in Gotham City, if you see something, you should say something. This was snagged by an extra on the set. Check out the full thing below, put out by the Gotham Transit Authority (though, we called the number and it seems to be the number of an actual real life security company). There are also some absolutely stunning photos of a Bane and Batman brawling outside of the Gotham Stock Exchange right here.
Photos: Secret Batwing Location Is Actually South Street Seaport
Yesterday, obscure indie flick The Dark Knight Rises took over lower Manhattan near Wall Street to film what will undoubtedly be an epic battle scene in the streets of Gotham City. Director Christopher Nolan watched as over a thousand extras took to the streets for filming—and stars Christian Bale (Batman) and Tom Hardy (Bane) were on set too for a climactic battle; see pics of them in costume here. You can check out some more videos from yesterday's filming below—and above, there are pics of the batwing parked near the South Street Seaport (as well as a Batman doll in the driver's seat). Does this mean the entrance to the Batcave is somewhere in the East River?
Video, Photos: Gotham City Police Department Is Occupying Lower Manhattan
As we wrote about earlier today, obscure indie film The Dark Knight Rises was shooting around Wall Street all day (as it will be doing tomorrow as well). Director Christopher Nolan watched as over a thousand extras filled up lower Manhattan, performing as Gotham City cops and a group of rebels clashing on the streets of Gotham, exchanging fake gunfire in the process. Check out some videos below.
This Weekend's Dark Knight Rises Filming Means "Gunfire" Downtown
If you hear gunfire down by Zuccotti Park this weekend, DON'T PANIC! It's probably not protesters fighting over the newly-installed porta potties. The Dark Knight Rises is back to filming in Manhattan on and around Wall Street this weekend—and according to DNAInfo, they've posted notices around the neighborhood to let people know they'll be using fake gunfire.
The Dark Knight Is Rising Over In New Jersey This Week
While the real Gotham City is right here, of course, sometimes other cities are used to portray it on film—you know, since we're so terribly busy and important here in New York. And so it goes, The Dark Knight Rises has now relocated from Manhattan to... Newark. According to CBS, the cast and crew are in the Garden State today and tomorrow, prompting major traffic concerns for New Jersey commuters—the Newark Light Rail from Penn Station to Broad Street Station will not be running for the two days, and car traffic will be rerouted.
Spotted: The Dark Knight Is Rising In Midtown And Near Zuccotti Park
After shooting scenes around the world, The Dark Knight Rises is officially filming in the real Gotham City, with production currently set up on 58th Street. A reader sent these photos in, taken this morning, telling us, "the cars in the pictures are on 58th between 5th and 6th right near the Plaza hotel," and trailers are set up on 56th Street.
Confirmed: The Dark Knight Will Film Near Zuccotti Park For Two Weeks
At the very least, there's going to be some confusion when tourists (who are all about Zuccotti now) run into some extras dressed in SWAT gear. Should be an eventful two weeks, especially for the neighbors. But the big question is: will Hipster Cop finally get his Hollywood close-up?
Our Quest To Be A Dark Knight Extra
On Saturday we visited the open call for extras for The Dark Knight Rises to check out the process and fulfill our lifetime dream of starring in a superhero blockbuster. When we arrived at the 2 p.m. call time, the line of hopefuls stretched all the way down 19th Street between 6th and 7th avenues. Even though Warner Brothers had attempted a clever ruse by calling the film Magnus Rex, every superhero nerd in NYC called their bluff.

Catwoman Crushes IMAX Camera On Dark Knight Rises Set
Last week Christopher Nolan released the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises (and Hathaway knows that you think she looks "meh", Internet). She was perched upon the Batpod, but other photos of her in action on set were actually of a stuntwoman. And now TMZ has video footage of that stuntwoman crashing... into a very pricey IMAX camera!
Introducing: Anne Hathaway As Catwoman
Perhaps prompted by the paparazzi type photos popping up, Christopher Nolan has decided to release a first look at Anne Hathaway's Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Though she looks a little more Selina Kyle than Catwoman here—where are the cattributes? Check out more photos here, where Hathaway appears to be driving the Batpod herself!
Video: Two New Dark Knight Rises Trailers (One Is Real!)
[UPDATE BELOW] Those who crammed into a movie theater to catch one of the first screenings of the new Harry Potter this weekend were also treated to the first peek at The Dark Knight Rises. The third and final installment in Christopher Nolan's trilogy isn't due out until next year (and they only just started filming recently), but they've already stitched together an early teasers. One theater-goer pulled a Kramer and videotaped the trailer last week—however, now there's a new official trailer, check it out below, along with a first look at Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.
Video: Batman's New Manor, New Wheels Exposed
The Dark Knight Rises has started filming, with planned shoots in India, London, Pittsburgh, and New York City (it will be filming under the names Magnus Rex and Fox Hills Green, so stay alert for signs). Currently the crew is in London, where they've been filming at the new Wayne Manor. In Batman Begins, the former Rothschild estate, Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire, was used for Wayne Manor's exterior. This time around they're using Wollaton Hall in Nottingham. But in the storyline, it's explained that Wayne Manor is actually "near the outer city limits in a neighborhood called the Palisades."
The Dark Knight Rises Has Activated The Viral Machine
The final piece of the most recent Batman trilogy (before it gets rebooted again), The Dark Knight Rises, won't be out until the summer of 2012. It seems the viral campaign has just been activated, however. Yesterday the website went online with an audio file of what sounded like people chanting. According to Slate, "someone posting to the forums on SuperHeroHype had run the sound through a computer program and gotten a visual representation of the audio spectrum—which spelled out the phrase TheFireRises. People recognized that as a Twitter hashtag, which led them to discover the new Twitter account @thefirerises."
More Cast Announced For The Dark Knight Rises, Filming Starts In June
It's been three years since The Dark Knight hit the big screen just after one of it's stars, Heath Ledger, was found dead inside his real life Gotham apartment. Now the final piece to Christopher Nolan's trilogy (before the franchise is rebooted) is shaping up and right on track to be your IMAX fix in 2012.
