Dina Matos McGreevey appeared on Oprah today as part of the publicity tour for her book, Silent Partner: A Memoir of My Marriage, about her marriage to former NJ governor James McGreevey. Of course, the estranged couple have exchanged angry accusations (McGreevey said his estranged wife was using their 5-year-old daughter for publicity while she fired back about portraits of naked men in his home) to the point where a judge had to tell both McGreeveys to put aside their bitter differences for the sake of their child.

So, next Tuesday the much-talked-about memoir by former NJ Governor James "I'm a gay American" McGreevey will be released, amidst a publicity whirlwind. Apparently people in the Oprah audience (who were asked not to speak about the show but did so anyway) weren't that impressed with McGreevey. Well, revealing that you had your gay encounters while his wife was in the hospital after giving birth to their daughter isn't anything that wins people's favor. His associates believe that the book will show he's contrite about his actions. That's all well and good - and it's good that McGreevey can be more comfortable with himself now that he's out. But does his memoir mention miring NJ in a lot of economic problems and being a corrupt politician? Just asking!

"I am a gay writer" doesn't quite have the same ring as "I am a gay American," does it? Former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey is writing a "tell-all" autobiography that will hit the bookstores in mid-September. The book, currently titled, "The Confession," will cover all the bases of an autobiography - upbringing, etc. But what most people are looking for, his public revelation that he was gay. First reported in yesterday's Newark Star-Ledger, the book will have details of his sex life and how he kept his homosexuality secret. Less interesting perhaps is that the book will also cover New Jersey politics in depth. Doesn't McGreevey understand that people just want the details of his big secret?
